i'll have to do some more removing of games I'll never play at some point, but i've still managed to keep my steamcompletionist at 75% beaten/completed through all of 2019, so unless it plunges I'm fine

if you do origin access, they added sparklite, wreckfest and little misfortune

other games they've added recently if you have origin access and forgot they also include indie games:
bloodstained
superhot
for the king
tacoma
sinner: sacrifice for redemption
dead cells
nex machina
shantae 1/2 genie hero
slay the spire
yoku's island express
ghost of a tale
pyre
a plague tale: innocence
breathedge
darksiders 3
tyranny
the invisible hours
cosmic star heroine

it's basically the gamepass that no one notices or thinks about

that specific game is on the premiere tier of the origin access sub for what its worth

you could i guess pick a month where you'd like to play the star wars sekiro game and play both games that month

i just hold on to the basic tier and wait for EA's games to move from premiere to basic because it's usually only a 6-12 month wait for each game

i'd say that people expecting PS2/PS3 BC for the PS5 are hoping beyond hope, sony stopped giving a poo poo about PS2-on-PS4 a long time ago and Jim Ryan's thoughts on BC are "no one actually wants BC" and now he's head of playstation in america

you'll get PS4->PS5 backwards compatibility and that's it. and that's assuming sony doesn't change their mind and think "actually we can just create and sell new remasters at full price of games that are only 3-4 years old"

the level design in shadow warrior is so bad and the gated combat arenas are the pits. it's not like nu-doom where at least the arenas are designed like a tiny Q3A map, it's just a killbox every single time, but not a big one like serious sam

annoying loving enemies in that game too

not sure if i'll ever play the second one

i actually thought hard reset (same dev) was more enjoyable even though it also had a lot of problems

https://www.pcgamer.com/the-suicide-of-rachel-foster-review/

"But where thoughtful storytelling elevated the walking sims that influenced it so heavily, The Suicide of Rachel Foster falls short. What begins as a compelling ghost story turns quickly into a melodramatic soap opera that churns sensitive topics like suicide, child grooming, and teenage pregnancy into baseless drama to the point where it's just plain gross.
...
The relationship is even more worrying because it's seen as romantic. An attic with fairy lights hangs above a bed where sketches of the teenager posing naked lie scattered on top. There's a line where Rachel is described as 'mature for her age' as if it's some sort of excuse to her father's relationship with the teenager. It made me cringe, especially as the game's marketing focuses on Rachel's retainer, an object that emphasises how young she is.

The most damaging aspect of how the game frames this relationship is that Rachel has no voice throughout the entire game. For a character whose name is in the title of the game, I know very little about her. No letters, no flashbacks, no pages from a diary, nothing that attempts at giving her any voice. I barely know anything about this character apart from the fact that she was groomed starting when she was young, got pregnant by a man three times her age, and then took her own life. Rachel's story is not melancholic or poetic as the game represents it, it's just irresponsible."

Fallout New Vegas might be a bit on the edge, but the rest would run just fine. Skyrim I honestly wouldn't expect to work with that kind system, even with minimum settings.
i think it should run okay. the cpu is not so hot but the 620 is adequate enough for that era. as someone who has a bed laptop with an i5 and intel 620, the cutoff point for 60fps gameplay is maybe 2012... but there are still games after that point that can run alright, you maybe get to 2015 before it starts to drop below 30fps at low settings

dark souls 2 ran fine on it, for example. while my time at portia ran worse than the switch version lol

then sometimes there's stuff that just surprised me, like subnautica ran okay on it. but it had trouble with snake pass. dragon's dogma ran passably, but the signal from tolva was unplayable.

ultimately i got a work laptop with a 1050ti in it that could handle my day job stuff while also allowing me to play most modern games on medium settings (naturally the cut-off point will happen when the next-gen consoles come out... oh well)

i'll go ahead and list some of the free stuff on itch.io tonight that is worth looking at

https://bootdiskrevolution.itch.io/bleed-2 (and the first game): incredibly fun action games with kind of Klik & Play looking visuals but very Treasure-style gameplay
https://merlandese.itch.io/last-word : a conversation-battling jrpg where you fight with smarm rather than swords
https://danielben.itch.io/fidel-dungeon-rescue : a pupper based roguelite puzzler about snaking your way through a dungeon safely
https://coreymartin.itch.io/pipe-push-paradise : Steven's Sausage Roll meets Pipe Dream

stuff i haven't played but i'll give a try cause why not

https://siactro.itch.io/macbat64 : low budget n64 lookin 3d platformer
https://titouanmillet.itch.io/mu-cartographer : people have said this is a cool chill experience
https://the-icehouse.itch.io/asa2015 : myst inspired game
https://benal.itch.io/super-skelemania : metroidvania, i remember the original being a fun little freeware game

https://zertuk.itch.io/spooky-ghosts-dot-com - cute little metroidvania, it's pretty basic though
https://machineboy.itch.io/milkmaid-of-the-milky-way - point n click adventure about a milkmaid that ends up on an alien spaceship
https://critterdust.itch.io/earth-tongue - a lot of people in here have said "earthtongue, that's a cool thing, it's not really a game but like, drat"

i hope that's true about doom eternal abandoning the "straight line->closed arena->straight line->closed arena" level design because that was the back half of 2016 and it sucked

mostly though i am more into games with actual doom-style level design, where it's small but dense with keycards and backtracking. which is why i liked project warlock. so i'll probably look into Amid Evil and Dusk soon. (while avoiding Ion Fury)

a modern run & gun FPS with OG doom style level design would be sick as hell

gamepump is what you're thinking of, but there's also a new sub service for retro games (arcade, C64, spectrum, amiga, megadrive) called antstream

https://www.antstream.com/gameslist

it's europe/UK only right now though, no US

also it's cloud streaming (lol), which is probably the main reason why they've gotten actual support from publishers (they just added taito games this week)

PC-adjacent, but i saw an article from Microsoft that stealth announced several in-development indie games coming to Gamepass in the future, including some that were in the most recent Steam indie demo festival:

Spiritfarer
Haven (by the Furi dev)
Ikenfell (Humble-published)
West of Dead
Drake Hollow
Levelhead (the Mario Maker inspired game)
The Red Lantern
Edge of Eternity
Unto the End
She Dreams Elsewhere
Star Renegades

usually the indie games end up on both PC & console gamepass, only a couple of rare exceptions. i'm looking forward to seeing how spiritfarer and ikenfell pan out

it sounds like the spinoff series is going to be more like the first two games while the main series continues in the direction of 3

3 was really grind-heavy so i'm glad for a return to everything being more meticulously designed, rather than "if you don't have enough, you'll get enough eventually, after enough cycles"

hidden object games are good because you start as a lady detective running a sting operation on the mafia to rescue kidnapped children, only to discover most of the mafia has disappeared and some of them have turned to goo, at which point you find a portal to a fairy tale world
