I keep hearing people hating on Rowling like she's been saying some abhorrent stuff but my (admittedly lazy) googling didn't turn up anything. The only dumb things I really see are her obviously made up on-the-spot explanations for things like Wizards just taking dumps on the floor. Is it just blowback from how Twitter Liberals try and explain everything in terms of Harry Potter metaphors?

No, it's that she's basically dug down into TERF-y and similar "I'm a rich white woman now why would I care about the poors" behavior now that she has more money than god and that's a royal blow to a lot of people who liked her works and saw themselves in it growing up before realizing any intent in that area was accidental at best. A lot of this is that she'll signal boost some wretched individuals.

They actually do point out that Jesus is a prophet, yeah, and in fact part of the film does revolve around "Look, let's do as little damage to the timeline as possible in trying to assassinate Jesus. We just want to stop Christianity... no witnesses means it's all good, bro!"

I'm in the dark about this, what was so bad about it?

So the entire show they'd been cutting to shots of "the kids" he was telling this story to, and they filmed all of these ahead of time because otherwise the kids were going to age up. This meant that they stuck with the ending they'd planned way back when, ahead of all the development or changes the cast went through.

And that's why everyone was furious when the final scene we see reveals this entire tale of how I met your mom was describing their NOW DEAD MOTHER in the present (who we only met in the final season!) and Dad was telling this tale to get permission from the kids to go gently caress Robin. If I don't misremember.

Imagine if your sitcom ends with the montage that opens Up and then the old man's response to loneliness is asking his children "but I can still bang this woman who you treat as an aunt, right? That's cool?" It's so tonally hosed on a lot of levels.

I was kinda disappointed in that, tbh. Most if not all "what if the south won" stuff is lazy and just has one absorb the other, a world where the South broke off and then there's two States of America jockeying for position during the 20th century has potential.

I mean, I get it, but still.

So at the same time as Confederate, Aaron "The Boondocks" McGruder announced he had a deal with Amazon to make a similar, much more interesting show, which has also vanished into the void. It was "okay, the slaves get their own state, and so how does the history of the US shake out if the American people are loving with them and sabotaging things and they still survive to modern day, what does this become".

I stopped watching there. Was the rest of the show good or not?

I think the final season is the only really divisive part of Fringe but if you liked the opening, you'll probably enjoy it all the way through. It definitely landed its emotional beats even if the (final season spoiler) timeskip to a doomed future and trying to jumpstart a parallel timeline to prominence was a thing some people hated, the cast kept the relationships and development going the whole way to the finish line.

Dragonlance is pretty hosed even by D&D standards, and I'm pretty sure this is why even the novels stopped coming out a decade ago. The authors of the original stuff went their separate ways, the gamebooks were licensed out to the company one of them founded with her husband, then that license expired, then that company disbanded in a divorce, and currently I think all three major individuals involved in the above now work for distinct competing businesses.

After season one, leave. They jettisoned a show runner and by most on-set accounts, only Orlando Jones really pulling poo poo together on site and rewriting/reworking enough of the scripts to earn him a writing credit got anything to the finish line. Combine this with losing Gillian Anderson and a lot of S1 cast while trying to cobble together any forward motion and the second season is a disaster.

And then they lose a second showrunner and the new guy fires Orlando Jones for being too loud and black. Basically the quote given. Season 3 has absolutely nothing to it's name. It spins wheels the whole time and ends on a wet fart and cancelation.

Nothing gave me a heads-up that my cross-cultural psych professor in year one of college was mad as a hatter more than her first course. I walked in and the room was pitch black with pornography playing on a projector, she's got her feet kicked up on a desk, isn't responding to anyone, eating chips. Whole period goes by, no change.

Come back next week and there's only 7 of us down from... I dunno what. She's now teaching a normal class and says "Yeah I do that at the start of every semester to get the fundies out of my class, saves me a lot of arguments." I did not learn much about CC-Psych but I did learn a) that she loved to gently caress and b) she was really into Amsterdam as a whole. Just peak "how do you have a job" educator.

That counts as a movie, right?
