I feel that Avatar 2 is going to go down the route of other long awaited autuer projects (Chinese Democracy, The Last Dangerous Visions, etc.): the longer the wait, the greater the pressure on the creators to make something to justify that wait, the more impossible the task ... and the projects never complete or get a long overdue release to only mild interest.

I’m going to hope that it follows the pattern of T2 and Aliens... sci-fi action sequels directed by James Cameron and released several years after the original that were awesome. Twelve years is longer than the 7 years later of those films, but not as much as some make it seem.

I really do not get why Netflix is giving him tens of millions of dollars. Nobody is subscribing or keeping their sub because the new Sandler joints are on it. The money would be better spent on licensing shows or movies.

Considering Netflix has viewing data and complex algorithms to review viewing habits, I believe you’re probably mistaken. Like you, I’d much rather watch something else though!

Companies don't always make the best decisions.

That’s true and the original Sandler deal could have been a huge mistake. The fact they are extending it suggests that the first deal was successful for them though. Choosing to pay him more money for more movies that have a pattern of not attracting users goes beyond the typical bad decisions companies can fall into.

When you only ever give shows two seasons, you have to make spin offs.

I’d be way more excited to read that they’re committing to additional seasons. This is a giant whatever.

The Mandalorian was originally going to be a Boba Fett movie directed by Josh Trank.

It seems like it started as a video game script with all the escort missions and leveling up

It's weird that 'being a fuckign terrible actress' wasn't enough to make them rethink having her lead a TV show.

Seriously. Being generous, she barely managed being a supporting character.

Honestly I don't know if there's anything about the premise of Face/Off that was not fully explored by the movie Face/Off

Maybe I’m showing my age, but I’m predicting the original will have more impressive stunt work. Stunt men are still doing incredible things, but the inclusion of CGI blurs the lines and makes my brain read the action as less impressive.
