I was referring to YA franchises that turned into abortive attempts at film series. The early 2000s was full of YA attempting to follow the Harry Potter formula. Alex Rider, one movie. A Series of Unfortunate Events, died after one film, redone on Netflix, don't know how that went. Percy Jackson, two movies then dead. The Golden Compass, toned down to try and appease dumb fundies, died after one film, ended on a cliffhanger, wasted an amazing cast, rebooted very well on the BBC. Divergent, three movies that kept getting worse and worse critical and commercial results before dying.

Broad strokes yes but the ahead of its time part is more that by the end it was fully in War Is Hell everyone has PTSD and we send disabled kids into a mission as cannon fodder knowing theyll die because theyre expendable and for the greater good and its not presented as a moral horizon failing but that its war and a decision had to be made. I enjoyed the tonal clash of all the random swearing so while watching this sequel to a cukt classic from the golden age of video gaming you had what felt like a gritty reboot for no reason.

No joke however the rendering on the dumplings was so.e of the best food graphics ever and i would just focus on more games including steamed dumplings.

Don't know if it was him but it is confirmed Assassins Creed: Odyssey literally was written with only Kassandra in mind and was meant to be only her story until they were forced to give a male option. And then more men picked Alexios which they used "see, men sell!" It's now a meme as its a true case of forced diversity, and it was to include a white man.

My take away from that is that there should be an option to play Tomb Raider as a man because the metrics will show gamers will pick the male option over Lara Croft and it will just be evidence of how loving dumb that is.

Kassandra is canon.

That does clash with that she is portrayed unambiguously out of universe as the hero and is praised in universe by every other character as the perfect ideal person. You might be right in that she does have a character in your words, but it requires a reading so far away from the one thats imbued upon her to be reductive. Then again I've written similar things about Aiden Pierce from watch_dogs who might be the worst written character in gaming history BUT his character is exceedingly obvious making the clash so much more apparent.

They also clearly, and by having multiple games certainly tried, thought that Lightning would be a legendary franchise running character not even in the scope of Final Fantasy (where they were sure she would be mentioned in the same breath as Cloud, Squall, Kefka and Sephiroth) but like in the pantheon of video game characters like Solid Snake, Mario, Sonic, or Samus.

They were terribly terribly terribly terribly terribly wrong.
