I don't mind the Canto Blight section but I do remember thinking that the casino felt awfully Earth-like through a combination of the humans' costume design and the casino itself.

Stuber and Fighting with my Family were on some lists, the latter I had only heard good stuff about which confused me so I left it off.

I saw Fighting with my Family on vacation and while it's basically a WWE puff piece I can't say anything really bad about it. Wholesome family movie that avoids easy, cliched villainy and really makes her story about her own personal struggle.

Also it was kind of funny remembering the other day why the actress who played Amy in the new Little Women seemed so familiar. She's Paige in this movie.

When a marketable star dies before or during movie production, the current vogue is to use a CGI replacement, but I think we should go back to the practical effect of hiring people who look like the dead actor and pretending they're the same actor but with a slightly different last name.

The modern version of this is what they did for Fast & Furious. Film the guy's brother using angles and edits that hide or draw attention away from his face but morph the brother's face into the dead actor's using CG where necessary.

I don't think Bond can't be Bond anymore because of Austin Powers. It wasn't the first time Bond had been parodied. Austin Powers lifts from and riffs on earlier Bond parodies as much as it does from Bond itself. The 007 franchise's biggest enemy is itself because it hasn't known what it wants to be for my entire lifetime. And even back when it did know it would veer into such wild excess that it was beyond parody.

I feel like Guy Pearce could be a good Agent Smith. He has the right look and while he doesn't have quite the same timbre as Weaving I imagine he can do a good impression of him if needed.

The one major common premise among Mario games is the damsel-in-distress mission Mario is on to save the Princess and they should probably not do that. What might be tough, but really fun if they could pull it off, would be incorporating not just the classic Mario Bros.-style games but stuff like Dr. Mario, Mario Kart, Luigi's Mansion, etc.

Cap has been worthy for a long time but Mjolnir has a tendency to be loyal to just Thor unless there's some kind of crisis or cause. It's part of why the mind-of-its-own development is easy to accept because its behaviour over the years suggested something else going on (unless Odin was micromanaging it the whole time).

That's the funny thing that they take "if you drink from the cup of Christ, you will have eternal life" to mean literally staying alive on Earth if you drink from Jesus' personal cup. It's obviously a metaphor saying that if you live as Christ teaches you will live eternally in Heaven.

Though I suppose that's what movies do with most non-Christian religions and their artifacts, so I'm ok with it essentially being magic.

I suppose if you knew the secret going in you might be able to walk across the bridge to the Grail without issue but Jones Sr. believed you needed faith to cross the gap. So in a sense the only people who can reach the Grail are presumably followers of His.

Something just occurred to me but what is the expected gap in new releases because of the pandemic? I recall we were having productions shut down for a month before it really hit big due to coronavirus scares and of course, we can't exactly predict how the next few months will unfold. Just really curious about it right now.

There are movies in post and so barring any need for reshoots there's still stuff that can be released digitally for months and months. My friend works in CG and he says the streaming companies are more voracious and demanding than ever for stuff to be finished, and they have plenty of it through to the end of summer. And that's just the company he works for. Every other effects house likely has different projects to finish as well.

Never mind that theatrical releases in the Before Times had to compete with every activity one could do outside of the home but currently Trolls is one of the few new movies out that was supposed to be released theatrically but done so digitally. Its competition in terms of other new content is mostly the same kind of content that streaming services or cable or On Demand provided normally.

Love the idea of applying the intentional flaw of the Death Star to other things. Like man, a tank is a bad design because what if an enemy parachutes in from above and curves a tiny boomerang made of C4 through the air and straight down the barrel of the cannon?
