in addition to being a beloved fiasco, this thing is deeply significant to me on a cultural and family level. i am aware this sounds bizarre and i may never get around to explaining it but believe me the love is real. i love this film. i love bakshi

the guy with the pony i thought was sam was actually bilbo looking particularly unusual heading out of town, apparently happily, who knows to where  seventeen years pass sleepily in the shire. we are reunited with frodo, who is overjoyed to be visited by the cascading wizard gandalf  frodo immediately intuites that gandalf's visit is something to do with "the ring, bilbo's funny magic ring" and i suspect that he is right
