Here's what may be the finest surviving M91 I've ever seen.

I dont know the exact timeline but this thing has an impressive history. Built in 1910, survives WWI, may have seen action in the Finnish civil war, one way or another ends up in service with the Finnish Civil Guard, survives the Winter War, survives WWII, and then somehow ends up in the US without an import mark.

If you're comfortable paying a $350 premium for your laziness, go for it.

Any pro tips on making it easier to pull the bolt on my mosin back after firing? Cycles fine with blanks and whatnot but it's pretty difficult to pull back to eject the casing after firing. Just clean the poo poo out of it some more?

Yeah get in there hard and deep with some solvent and a good stiff brush, shine a flashlight in to make sure you're not missing any spots. There's likely a few spots of old Cosmo or general gunk.

Something seems off about that. The lack of markings and polish/finish of the metal is weird to me.

Good looking Mauser otherwise.

Oh hey speaking of check out this C96 with zero bids, huh wonder why :v:

I've run all sorts of ammo through my Mosin from dirty surplus, modern steel cased, and also Winchester hunting soft point. It all works and I've never gotten a stuck bolt.

You might have something weird going on with your receiver and bolt, are they matching serials?

Action-Bastard

I missed the bit with the Mauser sorry.

What brand of ammo were you shooting? If you're getting the same result with two different rifles I'm quicker to blame the ammo.

Action-Bastard
Jan 1, 2008

I've run PPU through my mosin for years with zero issues. It should be fine.

Speaking just in general for mosins: you can get solidified cosmoline in your chamber, and it can get into all those little nooks in there and contribute to sticky bolt problems so you really gotta scrub hard with a good solvent.

Seems almost too good and pushes too many of the right buttons and I'd be afraid it's fake though.

I'll watch that. Its possible its genuine as the "SA" is for the Finnish civil or national guard and they'd take whatever equipment they could get their hands on in the early years.

Uh, no? The SA stands for 'Suomen Armeija' - literally 'Finnish Army'. It was the standard property stamp from 1942 onward. The Civil Guard had its own weapon markings.

Edit: Hey so I did some googling and here's an example of the same model in Finnish service.

is there a consensus on royal tiger? they have a karabiner 88 that I'd kinda like to pick up. seems a bit pricey but getting to avoid FFL while all non-essentials are closed would be cool, I've wanted one for a while.

So I dont know all the stories or the full details, but I didn't want to leave you hanging.

So the first story happened quite a few years ago. A TFR regular ordered a Belgian Hi-Power from Royal Tiger. I think condition was rated as very good - good with an accompanying example pic. Well the goon gets the gun in hand and theres very obvious pitting on it, not as advertised. So he contacts Royal Tiger to get it worked out... and he gets the runaround followed by complete silence. He ends up having to dispute the charges with his bank.

Then not as long ago another goon ordered an SKS from them and it's the exact same story. Condition much worse than advertised and complete silence from the company to get it sorted.

These are totally anecdotal and I'm working off of memory from years old posts but that's my story on Royal Tiger.
