I have no idea how to find the thread but there was a goon that discovered his redneck neighbors was stealing his cable, so he used what I think was the conversion box for a Genesis to send a electrical surge though the cable, intending to blow out the tv or something minor. Though because the house was badly wired or something it started a fire. Oh yea, and I thought i'd never have to hear about goonporn until recently when that whole ugly incident came up late last year.

Speaking of weird incel dudes, I remember a thread about some guy who was on a bodybuilding forum who build a sex doll out of water bottles and claimed his way of picking up girls was to go up and start singing the Fresh Prince theme. He also was obsessed with peeing and pooping. Thing was, dude was in crazy good shape but was seriously hosed up.

The guy posted a comic of himself being at a party and meeting a hot girl but suddenly needed to take a crap, but he panicked and did it in the tub. SA had hands in stuff like TempleOS and of course Chris-Chan early days as well.

Didn't some goons track him down when he was in sf or sd and talked with him and he seemed almost normal? Its actually kind of amazing how of you look into an internet thing that happened in the 2000s SA was part of it in some way. I know we get mentioned in almost all of the time in the down the rabbit hole episodes, and in Justin Whangs tales from the internet.

Also I remember when Gamer Gate was a thing, when the guy who was upset a woman didn't want to have sex with him so he planned to ruin her life came here and asked for help and we told him to gently caress off, the Game Gate Threads were like one of the few places online that actually saw through the BS smokescreen of "its about ethics in game journalism!" and it just being about hating women who has radical ideas like "maybe not have all women be sexualized" or "maybe not all games have to be male power fantasies" or even "this game isn't very good". Which lead to SA being branded as a hot bed of SJW activity by the GG crowd. That was pretty god drat funny to see. Oh and I remember a thread about someone who lived in like the backyard shed of another guy and lived like a baby? I only remember a video he posted of a tour of his shed where he slept in a crib. Related, there was also the amazing seasteading thread about Randoids who completely misunderstood Rapture from Bioshock and wanted to build places out on the sea so they could do all the meth and sex slaves they wanted. Again, a bunch of sad broken people getting way too into the fantasy they were buying into. It also created a ton of wonderful short stories by goons which is collected somewhere.

Oh yea Troper tales thread was great, because it was full of stories like "the bully came at me with a yard stick but my quick reflexes from playing Sonic The Hedgehog enabled me to move my head at the last moment so he missed. A companion in the crowd thew another yard stick to me and I began my counter attack in ernest". Yea that happened. Antivehicular posted:There were a lot of people on TVTropes who were experts on every part of the creative process except actually creating. My favorites were the ones who would add their own thing to various trope pages as examples, and then if you looked further, you'd find that the "work" in question existed as elaborate character bibles and timelines but no story, every fuckin' time. Oh I remember that! SOme of them had weird ideas about how writing worked as I said, that they were some living object that had its own life and they couldn't change it. its your god drat story. If you need a character to have a nailclipper all of a sudden, you can write they had a nailclipper. I think a lot of Tropers would read breakdowns of things like the history of the Nights Watch or Witchers or The jedi and then watch videos explaining the developments of phasers and Bolters. Rather than seeing these as just fun side notes, they think they're the base the stories worked from. Or they saw how Tolkin wrote a lot of the history of middle earth first, but misunderstood why he did it. Not so everything could follow rules and such, but more he was a medievalist and enjoyed doing it, and 99% of it doesn't have any impact on the story. BTW I am curious about why TVtropes threads no longer exist in PYF. I figure either too much drama or maybe just all the comedy was mined from the site.
