Do the bees that pollinate so many of the plants we eat not count as animal labor? Vegetarianism is fine. Eating a vegan (or mostly vegan) diet for dietary reasons or whatever is fine. But capital V Veganism is dumb, sorry.

It’s important that we all do our part, but LOL if you think personal austerity is gonna save us, or even make a dent, when something like 60% of pollution is caused by just 100 companies, and the US military is the single largest polluter. Sorta like how in California they were telling people to conserve water while doing nothing about the single company (the owner of Blue Diamond Almonds IIRC) that uses more water than every household in the state combined.

Making fun of vegans hasn't been funny for several years OP, to the point that unfunny people making unfunny jokes about vegans are several orders of magnitude more common and annoying than any vegan I've ever met in my life.

OP, maybe don’t look to TERF Island for leadership or as an example. Didn’t they pull a gov’t ad campaign starring a puppy because somebody was worried it’d offend people who don’t like dogs? Even though no one had actually complained?

I think that flight-shaming is just the beginning. A wide range of climate-change behaviors e.g. eating meat may be as uncool as smoking cigarettes within single-digit years. You probably saw that stupid post about watching Netflix being more polluting than driving an F-150 or whatever. Dumb as it was, it went viral. People are curious.

That tweet was from a company backed by one of the Koch brothers’ associates, with the goal of conditioning the public to instinctively disregard information about how to help prevent climate change etc. It went viral because of how stupid it was, because Truck Nutz types were spreading it around like “look at these fuckin libs am I right?”, and because too many modern news orgs will uncritically regurgitate any old bullshit they think will get clicks. They love running clickbait stuff they know will get hate-clicks.

While full veganism seems not likely to happen soon increasing food prices combined with general consumer trends means vegetarianism and faux meats will likely continue to gain ground. I mean Hooters of all places is gambling on people wanting to eat plant based faux-chicken wings. Hooters.

Veganism is insanely unhealthy, don't sacrifice your body because you like cute animals. You might be the person who perfects growable meat and makes it financially viable but we won't know if you're dead from being a vegan
