The Canadian mirrors of those trailers from Space (or CTV Sci-Fi, whatever) are probably not geolocked if you don't mind how they love to toss their own ugly graphics on everything.

Picard will be fine. The next season of Disco will be spaghetti thrown against a wall like always, but maybe the sauce will be a little more consistent this time now that they've somehow managed to go a full season without a showrunner quitting or getting fired.

Wasn't there also a Starfleet Academy series threatening to become a reality? Maybe I'm just confusing that for one of the other dozen attempts to produce an Academy series or movie over the last few decades.

I wonder if Crave will also throw it up around midnight like they did (inconsistently) with Short Treks, or wait until sometime around the CTV airing tomorrow night like they did (inconsistently?) with Disco.

Yeah, that would also explain the line about "fixing broken people." The cube is probably an old derelict and the Romulans are salvaging what they can from it, including drones, for reasons we'll get to eventually.

I've been wondering about another possibility after rewatching The Offspring: since Data downloaded Lal's memories into himself at the end of that episode, what if that's what survived B-4's failure, rather than Data himself? Maddox could've realized what he had was more Lal than Data and designed his androids accordingly.

I also like the idea that whatever "essence" of Data can be recovered isn't going to become literally Data in another body but more of a second generation personality using something of Data as a foundation. Maybe a little like how joined Trill are their own persons and not just the symbiont speaking with a different voice.

If Discovery is Doctor Who then Section 31 is pretty much Torchwood and will probably suffer the same fate.

Even if it's somehow good, the appeal of a Star Trek spy series feels so limited it's hard to imagine it performing very well. I suppose it could be vaguely interesting if they widened the scope to include all the other spy poo poo with the Tal Shiar and the Obsidian Order and the less shady Starfleet Intelligence but chances are it'll just be Michelle Yeoh and a bunch of dudes in leather grimacing at things for ten episodes.

Ash Tyler won't help anything either.

Honestly, since you mentioned it earlier, the Durandal somehow makes more sense to me than the Enterprise-J, despite the pair of detached rotating wings.

Maybe I just liked the Durandal because it had an internal transit system, which makes sense, a city-ship should really have that. Even if transporters exist, one systems failure and your crew is stuck hiking through kilometers of corridors to get anywhere. May as well also have trains just in case.

I kind if get the impression La Sirena is kind of deliberately nondescript 'cause they don't want to do starship porn and keep the attention strictly on the characters.

With the added bonus that it is probably cheaper/easier with such a mandate.

Also it's an unregistered freighter/courier probably converted from a civilian ship that was already nondescript to begin with, so it probably shouldn't be flashy even if people expect flash from their hero ships.

This also makes it easier to replace should the plot go in that direction. The Stargazer is still out there, just saying.

The idea of some ancient race 200-300,000 years ago straight up moving eight stars and a planet together as a warning for future cultures is some wild poo poo that kinda feels like something I'd find stumbling around with a science ship in Stellaris.

The ability to do something like that has been mentioned at least once, the Tkon were capable of moving stars, according to The Last Outpost but I'm not sure if the timeframe lines up.

Whether or not the threat was real doesn't really matter, and "evidence" could have been as simple as hacking the ship computer to make it look like a warp core breach was imminent.

If all Starfleet ships still have prefix codes, Oh would probably have access to those codes and the security clearance necessary to activate the auto-destruct. But yeah, whether or not she actually would've pulled the trigger doesn't matter because I doubt too many captains would call that bluff, and a Vulcan's bluff, no less.

Disco is super weird because especially in the first season it felt like they intended to do a Lower Decks thing with the main cast mostly being specialists and second-stringers, but they didn't fully commit to it, so instead it was a mix of that and the usual Star Trek bridge show, except the bridge crew rarely talked. Maybe that's yet another Bryan Fuller concept which never completely settled after he left.

Season 2 is better about this, those bridge people get more to do or at least more to say, but by then the show became more about its big mystery box, so they still never quite got the focus they needed or they crammed it all into one episode and hoped for the best. It's just another symptom of this show not really knowing what it wants to be, probably thanks largely to the revolving door of showrunners, so it tries to be everything at once and does it all haphazardly at best.
