Yeah it has a "mixed" rating on imdb so I assumed reviews were out but it's just people who've seen it and liked it (lot of 10/10s, so take that with a grain of salt. I can count the number of perfect score shows on one hand) and straight up poo poo for brains who haven't seen it giving it zero stars because Stewart's an America hating communist. So basically no useful info yet.

Well if you throw out all the 10s and 1s it looks good. You could even throw out the 9s.

Actually I just went back and checked out the imdb reviews, aside from the couple of 10s and 1s there's a single review from someone who's actually seen the show. It's a positive review at least...

There's a lot more than one up there now, and almost all of the negative reviewers are either transparently trolling or are pretty obviously imbeciles. I gotta say I am feeling extremely optimistic at this point.

Re: RLM Re:view...

I generally like (and agree) with them but this was a bigger hitpiece than what that future interviewer attacked Picard with. And terribly less effective. They went way out of their way to not just pan it, but outright poo poo all over it and they didn't do it well at all. No idea what bugs crawled up their butts, but if RLM can't tear something apart enough to convert you from loving it to hating it, no one can.

TL;DR: Picard good, and RLM are gettin' too :spergin: for their own good.

Watching ep 2 now. I'm noticing (and am pleased by) a lot of the soundtrack being reminiscent of Caprica. I feel more than fairly sure that's not a coincidence. It's got strong shades of nostalgia, which suit a spinoff well, whether a sequel or a prequel.

FE: Not the opening theme, mind you (which may or may not be a coincidence), I mean the incidental music.

My take is that STP was a disjointed and poorly executed show that nevertheless had many enjoyable moments. I don't regret watching it but otoh I'll likely never re-watch it because I know it just never really comes together, therefore a second viewing is p much a waste of time that could be much better spent.

One interesting route they could go with it is whether or not robo Picard counts as the same person. Will Starfleet still recognize his commission and rank? Ia he still recognized as the original JL Picard under the law, who owns a vineyard and all of JL's physical and intellectual property? Does this set the precendent that all uploaded consciousnesses are legally different people when divorced from their meat bodies, and forced to forfeit whatever entitlements, properties, or priveleges, they may have held when in those meat bodies?
