Facebook Aunt posted:A few weeks ago I took my senior cat in for a checkup and they wanted blood and urine. The blood looked tricky. But I was not expecting them to just jam a big needle in her belly to get at the urine. I was thinking, "'how they get a cat to pee on demand?" then "Oh poo poo!" Jesus gently caress is this normal? I've never had a cat who needed a urine sample and it sounds kind of extreme

Hopes Fall posted:Yup. They did it to my fatboi when we brought him for "inappropriate urination" (pissed on my leg while I myself was taking a piss). We learned he had urine crystals, but they just jammed a bugass needle into him and pulled it directly from the source. He didn't even really bitch that much. Mooey Cow posted:That's how they sampled urine from our dog who was diabetic. It looks pretty brutal but you can't exactly ask animals to pee in a cup. 21st Cherry boy posted:Yeah they've done it to two of my cats, one of them the vet said was almost too chubby to get to his bladder haha. Huh, I had no idea. Guess I shouldn't find it surprising since you can't get cats (or any animals) to piss on demand (like Mooey Cow said) but I'm still somewhat suprised.
