I took my power droid in for maintenance last week, the mechanic on duty said he was "Looking more like a GUNK droid." He's a utility unit, not a protocol model or something, I'm not going to waste time scrubbing this thing daily. I absolutely hate dealing with the guys at Jiffy Droid.

Watching Luke with the machine, it was suddenly so clear. The GONK would never stop. It would never leave him, and it would never hurt him, never shout at him, or get drunk and chop his hand off, or say it was too busy to take him to Toschi Station. It would always be there. And it would die to protect him. Of all the would-be fathers who came and went over the years, this GONK, this machine, was the only one who measured up. In an insane galaxy, it was the sanest choice.
