was that Crichton Kicks? yeah, very good, the show usually does well when it leans into crichton being nuts. and the katharine hepburn pilot is a cruel but funny gag

My friends and I used to try to classify the gang into D&D classes John - bard, occasionally tinkerer Aeryn - warrior Dargo - barbarian Zaan - cleric / alchemist Chiana - rogue Stark - paladin Rygel - NPC?? Later i guess Noranti is the new zaan, except Sikozu is also a scientist type (tinkerer?) e: pilot is the DM

it's weird that they made Sikozu an android to justify random powers, when they could just say her species do that. the other species get x-men powers. and that's after they made it a thing that translator microbes didn't work on Sikozus and iirc it never came up again.TheDeadlyShoe posted:Pilot is a roleplaying pacifist monk who does nothing but cast pass without trace when the party needs to get somewhere

Officer Crais: Freeze! You're under arrest. You have the right to the remains of a silent attorney! If you cannot afford one, tough noogies! You can make one phone call! I recommend Trixie: 976-Triple 5-LOVE. Do you understand these rights as I have explained them to you?! Well do you, punk?! John: ...No. Officer Crais: Then I can't arrest you!

I liked how as the series progressed the legend surrounding John got bigger and bigger. Season one was “why do I care who you are John” and season 4 was more “holy poo poo you are John please don’t hurt me or my planet we have heard about all you have done and are beet scared of your presence here”. I think one of the best scenes is in the princess trilogy when he’s orbiting on the satellite and completely loses it.

Man, remember when aliens tricked him into believing he'd gone home, and then in the second season he seemed to be home again and just instantly was over it Remember when they made a hallucination of the villain to hang out with him who remained there on and off all the way through the series Remember when he got cloned and they went to great pains to say it was literally impossible to tell which one was the original, and they passed a lie detector by sending in the one who hadn't done the thing the lie detector was testing for, and then both clones separated and had separate adventures through season 3 and one died and we never knew if the one who died was the original or not Remember how they ended every season with a cliffhanger that had no possible way out, up to and including the main characters being DISINTEGRATED ON SCREEN in the final episode Farscape was the best drat show ever. Remember Maldis, the literal evil wizard? Remember when everyone switched personalities and the actors imitated each other? Remember the Rashomon episode? My Jesus. Oh remember the episode where everyone was going crazy and it was Crichton's inferior ability to perceive the light that was driving them crazy that led to him saving the day? I gotta watch this thing again

it's really good and you're right on every count. also btw though every self respecting series needs a rashomon episode. Even Rugrats has one. If you don't have a rashomon episode just get outta here.

that arc with clone? creighton dying was my least favorite ever, though the episode leadup to it was good. just hard to invest in the drama when me, the audience, knew he was fine. i'd forgotten all about by the end of the season though, all the season ends were great.

I haven't watched it in a while but I think it turned out it was the living one's baby. Not sure how they would know. Also the fact that the Crichton who died was the one who had all the cool adventures was pretty funny, while the one who lived got roofied and Dargo punched him so hard he blacked out

at the end of season 3, the only other person who has been on talyn for the past year that is both alive and present for aeryn to talk to is rygel john, crais, talyn, and stark are all dead, or off maskless and searching for zhaan no wonder she effed (frelled) off into space

What's the deal with the weird video game trap that stark makes, why did he make it and why was he the villain? That episode was weird
