Firefly was the beginning of Whedon’s “subverting the audiences expectations will literally ALWAYS be good writing” and it’s what spread from the Marvel franchise into literally all of Hollywood en masse.

SG-1 seemed SOOOOOO boring in commercials I never gave it the time of day. If every scene isn’t you fighting against Jackal and Ibis headed mummy aliens then what is even the point?

The main cast of sg1 had good chemistry which carried the show a lot despite it being pretty generic.

Main problems were that it ran way too long and they never came up with a better bad guy than the first one

I once thought as you do. It seemed like the scifi equivalent of Xena or Hercules to me until my wife persuaded me to watch along with her. But I can vouch for it being solid now. It's not really groundbreaking like B5 or Farscape but it's the pinnacle of run-of-the-mill '90s space shows. Has a good sense of humor and they're good at "oh hey remember that thing in season 3, a logical application of that would be really handy to win this episode" and then they proceed to do exactly that.

And there are a lot of scenes of them shooting masked aliens.

I loved SG-1, but could never get into Atlantis.

Weir was such a terrible actor, and Ronan was a walking, talking version of with dreadlocks. I could never get past them to deep-dive into the show.

Lexx is great. Its like if GWAR made sci-fi instead of music. I hope it gets the battlestar galactica remake treatment someday, only weirder with more boobs and living toilets that lick you clean.

I never ever liked Kai's ridiculous wig though, that always seemed a bit too silly in an ocean of silly.

I just want you all to know that I found this thread yesterday and it's nearly been a full 24 hours of me trying to just process that video in the OP.

First: and fortunately this isn't a big deal anyway because I don't browse SA at work and I don't even go to work anymore (lol COVID) but it is extremely NSFW. I only point that out for those who may need that spoiler. It was a welcome surprise, nonetheless.
Second: as a puritanical American who grew up in the 90s and thought he knew every show that played on Sci-Fi back then...I admit there were late night cable shows that said 'gently caress' occasionally and you might see an rear end or a titty (but not both), this had both of the latter. Are you sure this went unedited like that on tv in the USA?
Third: I am still not entirely sure this wasn't just a scene from a really awesome budget softcore porn on Cinemax from the 90s. It was just too perfect. Ball squeeze, giant dangling cock jizzing on a woman, voyeurism, etc.

I am just...still trying to comprehend what is going on in this show and it's all I can think about.

Shoestring budget sci-fi is some of the best sci-fi. The more money you give a show the more likely they are to waste it on cgi explosions and poorly designed sets. Just look at either of the new Star Treks.

I know so many people worked on Lexx, and Brian Downey is a regular customer of mine.

The best part was a friend of mine had the Boob Wall from an episode of Season 3 in his apartment.

Also Xenia Seeburg is tiny and gorgeous.

It is sad that we don't get Weird Horny sci-fi anymore. I mean we haven't seen more than a few production Stills but Dune is looking fairly subdued. Going to need for someone to adapt the Incal or something.

What does he buy from you?

Lexx was terrible but great. I rewatched it and B5 last year, very different kinds of sci fi but both fantastic in their own ways. The cast were amazing, bringing their own weirdness to it. Rip Mantrid, glad to know he lived his best weird life.
