look at this fat idiot flapping like mad and barely managing to clear the surface https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c5bwZ9GzX18 when i watched them in the faroes I saw one trying to take off from the water and it bounced off the surface about half a dozen times before it could get anywhere the best hope a puffin has if it wants to get into the air is to already be on top of a cliff so it can throw itself off
