https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ce8GKKjS__4 To those who yell like, "She'll peck your eyes out!", "She'll tear your face!". She won't. But NEVER try to do this with any random owl you meet, because those might do exactly that. I've been raising Yoll since her 2 weeks old; I know her habits, I can determine her mood and intentions, and I understand what she would or would not want to do at any given moment of time. That's exactly why I know when I can shove my face at her like that and get away with it. It's called grooming. Owls who are friendly to each other often do mutual preening and combing. Thus, beak poking (and accepting it) is essentially a display of favor and friendliness. If an owl doesn't feel like being friendly, it'll leave. If you keep insisting, it'll bite you in attempt to make you leave it alone. I wouldn't shove myself like that at another eagle owl that I don't know. Or maybe I would, but not before spending a good chunk of time getting to know its personality and its opinion about me.

The best bird is the bowerbird because it creates literal works of art. I read that when people gently caress with anything the bird places in the bower, the bird moves it back to the exact spot it was moved from. They tried trolling the birds by moving things and fastening them in place so the bird can't move them back, and when that happens, the bird abandons the bower and makes a new one someplace else.

This bower was made by a bird that likes the color blue and used plastic waste he found.

Winklebottom posted:Sorta, ruffs have three different kinds of males. Most of them look like those pictures and maintain a small territory where they try to attract females (territorial males). Another type of male (satellite males) have a white plumage and sneaks around the edges of other males' territories and tries to mate with the females. A third, much rarer variant of male (cryptic males) have female plumage and uses this to "infiltrate" territories. Now that is really interesting, considering that there is a species of lizard that has evolved the exact same way: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rafdHxBwIbQ
