This river trash sketch sucks. The kicker joke was funny, got a laugh out of me. C’mon just one new sports sketch they can rerun in a super bowl special, that’s all I want.

Pretty poor episode. The show as currently constructed is lucky to have three funny sketches even when there’s a good host; there’s just no way they can write around a non-actor host right now.

I'm not going to say that I thought this episode was bad, because... well, because it could have been so much worse. Personally, I enjoyed the episode. I had my expectations set very low because this was an episode hosted by an athlete, and in that context, it wasn't that bad. Several sketches cast the host as an athlete, and I don't see how that's a bad thing. He's a football player, not an actor. I'd rather see him trying to act his way through a sketch where he has at least some grounding in something he knows than watch him try to do anything more complicated. Being funny isn't easy if when you're a professional actor; if you're not, then it can be nearly impossible. He did better than I thought he would. I got some chuckles.

JazzFlight posted:It was kinda weird to even have the "this isn't gay, right?" line in the Olay eye black parody. Just out of place for the show nowadays. Also using the word "cuck" in the Frozen sketch. Also the African American Studies professor playing into the ghetto tropes.

a new study bible! posted:Also the African American Studies professor playing into the ghetto tropes. Yeah, this was the only one that really struck me as odd. Last week's episode got a little deeper into the blue zone than usual, so the "cuck" stuff in the Frozen 2 sketch didn't take me aback. But the Black History Month thing started very strong, with Collin mentioning that it's a leap year so "we" get one more day to celebrate, and she puts him in his place for including himself... and then it went... dumb.

There have been times when I have called room service and ordered way more than a normal serving of food for one person. I have also tried to make it seem like there was another person in the room with me by closing the bathroom door and running the shower when the food arrived. "Food Dudes" got a good laugh from me.

The only good sketch was the Bachelor parody, and that got a pass because JJ Watt just sat there and grunted out the same four lines while the talented cast members took turns stealing the scene.

Wow...Big Willie's was obviously the best sketch of the night. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HNgvxDiPZoU In fairness, JJ did much better than most sportsmans (*cough* Barkley *cough*) and actually did a bit of acting. He even had some comedic timing, like in the Pizza sketch and the EA Sports one.

A little disappointed that the Infiniti Q45 Toilet trilogy was left out. The only one of the three I can find online But I suppose the target demo of teenagers has no frame of reference for the car ads it was parodying https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pVJLy0B7rfA

I imagine when you leave SNL either as a cast member or a guest it's like the dentist they put you on the spot for when your next visit is and you have to make an appointment really really far in the future not thinking fully about your availability and they fill out a postcard to send you or something. "Uh sure yeah uh my next time on the show will be... 2020. I think I'll be free then."

That's great, other cast member! Five bucks to you! Now. John. For half a billion dollars. Here's the man to give you the clue himself! (A man enters the studio.) Hi, John! I work at a booking agency in Toronto, and I booked you for a show on February 28th that you said you couldn't wait to perform. You sold out pretty quickly, like we said you would, and you get all the proceeds from merch. What's my name?
