Very few anticounterfeit features compared to larger denominations. Worth it if you can do it for pennies on the dollar (literally).

He never passed ’em at the same store twice.

He didn’t want to hurt any business in particular.

This had the side effect of making him a ghost to the Secret Service.

Charles Lieber, the chair of Harvard University's Department of Chemistry and Chemical Biology, has been arrested and criminally charged with making "false, fictitious and fraudulent statements" to the U.S. Defense Department about his ties to a Chinese government program to recruit foreign scientists and researchers.

The arrangement between Lieber and the Chinese institution spanned "significant" periods of time between at least 2012 and 2017, according to the affidavit. It says the deal called for Lieber to be paid up to $50,000 a month, in addition to $150,000 per year "for living and personal expenses."

"Lieber was also awarded more than $1.5 million by WUT and the Chinese government to establish a research lab and conduct research at WUT," the document states.

For a large part of the time frame in question, Lieber was also the principal investigator on at least six U.S. Defense Department research grants,

I'm on my phone and don't feel like digging up a link but there was a medical/cancer research center in...Houston, I think where they recently busted half a dozen or so people for not disclosing ties to the Thousand Talents program. The interesting thing was that only one was ethnically Chinese.

The report leaves unanswered the question of what the scientists did in return for the money they received. It describes how McLeod and Wei appear to have been running what NIH has called “shadow labs,” using existing federal grants from U.S. agencies to help carry out research in China. But the report also suggests several Moffitt scientists were scamming their Chinese funders by not putting in the time they had promised under their Thousand Talents deals.

“Dr. Wei stated that the substantial [2 or 3 months per year] time commitments he elicited on recorded videos from all Moffitt faculty participants, including Dr. List, were an open ‘lie’ necessary to apply for the Talents programs and to enable the participating Moffitt faculty to receive their Talents programs payments,” the report says.

Really? The college who would have I imagine some amount of liability since their CEO was involved is saying they were really just scamming the Chinese. That's just too much.

Don’t have time to watch that video and don’t know or care much about those you tubers beyond their names so not addressing this specific situation/people, but

None of the above *at all* precludes people from being racist as all gently caress and that’s pretty obvious if you’ve ever spent any amount of time among white expats in Asia

It was insanely smug and I watched all of it in the background and it seems like he's baiting people to get views. Racism isn't the right word at all I don't think. Those guys just don't like china and its policies and they eventually left after years of doing it. "Mixed Kid identity crisis"? really?

I found this map that tracks cases in China

https://gisanddata.maps.arcgis.com/apps/opsdashboard/index.html#/bda7594740fd40299423467b48e9ecf6

This map only goes by province or provincial-level cities, so it doesn't have the resolution to see cases only in Dalian. Shanghai has 80 cases and Liaoning province has 36. I'm just guessing, but given Dalian's size and importance in Liaoning, a good chunk of those 36 cases are going to be in Dalian.
