I tried ME1 a few years ago and I think a few hours in I got bored and stopped playing. I didn't find the environment compelling enough to make all the running around particularly interesting, I didn't find the dialogue either well-written or well-delivered enough to make sitting through it interesting, and the combat didn't do a whole lot for me anyway. Sometimes my friends will make ME references and all I can do is nod silently. Maybe I should just put a playthrough on in the background while I'm playing something else. Oddly enough I think if I could have disabled the speech entirely and just read the subtitles it would have made the game more enjoyable for me. Maybe there's a setting for that but I still don't think it would have quite made the game engaging enough for me.

I wonder if anyone at Bioware had Deus Ex in mind when they came up with the ending choices.

the ME "box art" depiction of Shepard always makes me think of FOOTBALL PLAYER for some reason and i can never shake the suspicion that someone, somewhere, somehow thought that the right boxart could snare Madden players
