You can see how many followers you have but the information isn't visible to other people, so you can't brag about how popular you are. Also the number is a lie because it counts bots, spammers, and anyone you have blocked. Only ten percent of my listed followers are actual human beings, the rest are pornbots and the one guy who exclusively posts Bruce Lee gifs.

The nice (?) thing about Tumblr is that it's basically too dumb to monetize. There's no timestamps on posts, so when you find a blog you just have to guess if its most recent post was yesterday or 2011. For a while when you reblogged something you could just edit the reblog and pretend the OP said something else entirely.

Tagged pairings aren't necessarily the focus of a story, Amanda/Sarek probably gets high numbers just by virtue of showing up in anything about Spock's backstory.

How many TOS fanfics only exist in fanzines from the 70's? How many stories never got digitized? That poo poo keeps me up at night.

I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of its hosted elsewhere, MLP was enough of a juggernaut fandom that it had a lot of its own fic websites.
