did you recently make a ryzen or threadripper “rig” well this is the thread for you my friend impress everyone with your specs and also revel in the fact that you were able to buy parts from amazon and Not only that but you put them together too. everyone will be amazed that you were able to accomplish a task that a common 13 year old is capable of brag a little, you deserve it!

In 2007 I bought a desktop computer for which my brother picked the parts for something like $600. It could play skyrim on low. My brother has kept building fancier desktops through the years, but I never upgraded mine. Last summer he gave me some of his older hardware; RAM, a graphic card, and a motherboard. I had to buy a new power supply for like $40 bucks and then I could play all the old games I had installed to max, but I think I was right under specs for the upcoming MS flight sim. I bought a SSD and a bigger HDD to complete the upgrade since the 12 years old HDD was showing signs of low reliability. Around this winter he replaced his hardware again, I bought nothing at all, and I think I now meet (and maybe surpass) the requirements for the upcoming MS flight sim. The case is hitting its limits and the side panels barely close (they got a bit bumpy after a few moves), but I got a workable desktop for essentially nothing. I don't recall what the specs are and I'd have to go in another room to find them so take it or leave it.

I'm always happy to brag about the computer I put together a couple summers ago dual P3s at 1GHz, 1GB of ECC Rambus (it was easier to get than non ecc), GeForce 2 and a Sound Blaster 128 I have windows 2000 installed on it and it runs UT pretty well e: it is presently buried in my closet or I would maybe take some external shots of it Silver Alicorn fucked around with this message at 17:33 on Feb 8, 2020 |

cross posting from another thread but here is a custom rig for yas the large resistor cable tied onto a heat sink, so the 5v rail had some load on it so the power supply doesn't shut down whoops not soldered, just all the 12v cables stripped and twisted together and electric taped. I used two different colours for safety this cute wee cable is the thing that tells the power supply that it should be on, mimicking the power button the amp and sub in all their glory this puppy punches I tell ya, rarely do I hear bass as powerful in anyone else’s house

my rig blew its motherboard and replacements were $200 thanks to the c228 chipset. so i spent $40 on a dell precision motherboard with the same chipset and $12 on adapters so I could hook it up to a regular power supply. it’s ghetto as hell but i love it.

bought a 2017 21.5" imac from my friend's brother, he busted both the screen and the lvds connector putting in an ssd. works fine connected to an external monitor so right now it's acting as a sweet $150 mac mini. if anyone knows where to get a cheap replacement screen...

you should drill screw holes through the original iMac panel and use it as a vesa mount for the external monitor imo
