It has no trouble passing between chinese patrols.

Without even the slightest suspicion by the complacent chinese army the GLA commander quickly traverses the path to the real target in the region. The incredibly vulnerable and gigantic hydroelectric dam that the chinese have constructed a base at the foot of.

Just like that the war was back on. The high explosive payload of the bomb truck was delivered with pinpoint accuracy and the dam never stood a chance.

I mostly remember Generals because when I got it around release I asked on GameFAQs how to fix my install because the FMVs weren’t playing.

I wasn’t trolling when I asked that, I legit thought my game was broken. Who makes a command and conquer game without FMVs?

I miss Homeworld.

I played it through every year, for about a decade.

Then the remastered version came out. I bought the hard copy because I like physical media, so I bought the deluxe version with the giant, light-up mothership. That was cool.

Then I saw the "physical media" was actually jut a slip of paper with the steam code on it. Huh.

It was very pretty.

And players have compiled 3 or 4 pages of things the remasterers changed, that ruined certain missions completely, and took away a lot of the charm of the game. So.... the remastered version they first released loving sucked, overall. And IIRC, they removed the YES song, "The Ladder," from the end credits.

I haven't played it since.

At least they acknowledged the changes before the complaints even started and released the original games, only updated enough to run easily on current systems, as part of the remastered collection.

So, like, you can still play the good games

Did they announce that before-hand? That's cool, I didn't catch that. I only played through, thinking it felt very off, and googled about it afterwards.

And yes, the steam code added the legacy game to my Steam library. And I still have my original game DVDs.

That YES song loving ruled, too. YES is hit or miss for me, but it was perfect for the end of that game.

Does the remastered edition have working multiplayer? We should do a goon game at some point.

Announce might be the wrong word. They admitted that changes were happening (because they had to port HW1 to the HW2 engine for the remaster) and said, without much prompting that I saw, that they would also make the original playable.

It wasn't widely publicised, probably because they just wanted to sell the statues(I still want one)

They kept working on it for a long time after release, a few guys trying to hammer Homeworld 1-style rigid formations into place in the Homeworld 2 engine. Tricky stuff from the sounds of things, it sounded like the HW2 codebase was a mess.

Fun Shoe
They actually managed to get the formations working.

The big mission that's changed is the one that revolves around enemies with limited fuel. Since fuel doesn't exist in HW2, they had to script those enemies instead

myth is an extremely good series. get myth 2 and play the original on that engine, too, with the fallen levels plugin. ignore myth 3 - it's an extremely bad sequel. like, myth 3 is one of those legendary bad sequels that just misses the point of the originals and bastardizes what came before.

We must hope that our current selves will one day step aside to make room for better versions of us.
Ive seen lps of both the originals in the before times and while they look fun they also look brutally hard if you don't treat combat like its the napoleanic wars with skeletons.

"Kane" is General Scarr from "Grim and evil."

Same voice actor and honestly sort of the same character. The actual guy was a drill instructor at a boot camp.

I mean, the whole concept of Evil Con Carne is basically a kid-friendly version of Nod. (which again, is basically Cobra)

Might be why the show didn't end up picked up, really, the whole deal of basically being a terrorist organisation becomes a lot less funny after 9/11. I mostly remember Skarr being on Billy and Mandy moving in as their retired, burnt-out, somewhat shell-shocked neighbour.

They're completely based off Saturday morning cartoon villains you got the point entirely. It's like NOD was based off Cobra minus the fun and goofy parts, there for "evil con carne" swung back around to goofy and fun.

I've said before that og C&C could basically be reskinned GI Joe. It's even got the iconic vehicles with goofy names and specialists with weird gimmicks, eccentric personalities and even goofier codenames.

Given the formula is more based on Dune II, maybe wonder if they decided to mash them together to make something they could pass off as original.

I loving loved the show and the characters kept appearing on the grim adventures of Billy and Mandy after Grim and Evil got the axe.

Creator canon; Hector was blown to bits EXACTLY when Grim lost the limbo game, which is why even tho Dr Ghastly aint a bad mad scientist, he's alive as frankenstien like as he is.

he was actually voiced by... Armin loving Shimerman!? like that's actually honestly weirder because he sounds nothing like Quark whatsoever
