I'd like to think the CBJ's Deadline would be somewhat interesting, but Jarmo's hands are tied with a bunch of the team, including potential trade chips, dead, thus affecting depth pieces who might otherwise be moved. Ever wondered reaction what HF-style trades would get from actual NHL team employees? Now, you can find out! https://twitter.com/Aportzline/status/1229758401258885121

https://twitter.com/Aportzline/status/1230209310996692992 Sure. Keith Mars posted:There's some speculation Dillon picked Washington too. He's been a trade rumor target for a while now (UFA, sharks not making the playoffs, cap-strapped with way too much money on defense), and he broke down during the last post game when asked if it might be his last home game as a shark: These types of things are cool. It came out when it was apparent there wasn't going to be a spot for Gregory Campbell in Columbus, Jarmo tried to trade him to keep him in the league before he was forced to send him down. It seems like there's one every couple years where somebody just switches Eastern Canadian teams or drives across the bridge to Buffalo.

GOOD TIMES ON METH posted:Columbus feels like they are in a weird spot at the deadline. Half their roster is injured and their best player is out until at least the playoffs and (imo) are probably a bit lucky to have the points they have from riding hot goalies earlier in the year. They are obviously still in the race for at least a WC spot but I don't many would say they are better than the teams around them in the standings. They look like a bottom 10 team in terms of who they have healthy on the ice right now but also have a really aggressive front office so I sort of expect they to start gobbling up players again. If Merzlikins doesn't find himself (in a BIG way) in the first game after Korpi goes down, this season is a tire fire at this point. As for more : rex rabidorum vires posted:They also gave up a TON of assets last year and lost Panarin. No expiring UFAs this year and they gain another 1.4mil in cap when Fedor Tyutin expires this offseason. If I'm CBJ I stand pat. See what happens and take a run at Taylor Hall in the offseason. DJExile posted:Jackets have a ton of cap space so they could take some runs if they really wanted, but yeah I feel like they're just gonna ride this year out at this point. Bjorkstrand-Texier-Atkinson Jones-Murray Korpisalo Dubinsky-Wennberg-Anderson Kukan- ...are units/lines you could make from players on IR right now. The feeling before Jones went down was they'd flip a defenseman (e- Murray, Savard, maybe Nutivaara) for some scoring help with term but, I mean... ^that^ is a slight problem. I could see Jarmo making a move for scoring help which is going to be around into the future as opposed to just a rental, but nothing spectacular. It's intriguing. I've wondered if Anderson might get flipped for another RFA (Athanasiou?). It's true they have no UFAs, but several noteworthy RFAs (PLD, Gavrikov, Anderson, all three goalies) which will eat into the cap space a bit. I suggested this to Porty for his "bad HF-style trades answered by actual NHL exec" story and he didn't pick it. Also, I drafted AA in like NHL 14 so it was prophetic they'd get him.

DJExile posted:A lot of the rest of the division either has plenty of space (Lumbus) or were missing big pieces. The optimist (never be optimistic) way to look at it is to say they're pretty happy with what they've got. CBJ has both space and missing (lots of) pieces, which is part of the problem. Once Jones went down, their ridiculous defensive depth was injured to the point where a guy like Ryan Murray or David Savard wasn't expendable anymore.
