Watching you sleep.

Butt first, let's
check the feeds.

Legitimately the best time I've had watching a wrestling show in years. Not a TV wrestling show, a wrestling show period.

Tag BR was great. AEW does great battle royals because everyone has a character, a moment, and a story behind their eliminations. Its not just a mass of bodies banging against each other as people randomly get tossed. Standouts tonight were probably Luchasaurus and Butcher. Trent and Scorpio Sky also had more strong performances as they've had since Dynamite began.

Nyla was AWESOME and AEW built her up better as champ in one episode than during all of Riho's run. AEW's women's division is lit.

In the big picture that barely built tag match probably didn't need to be on the show and might have given more time for other stuff to breath. But then again it was a legitimate MOTYC and an absolute banger. Lucha Bros are awesome and I really hope AEW finds something substantial for them to do.

Cody motherfucking Rhodes.

Also

"He hasn't been tested.

I say we test him."

Arn Anderson remains the best promo in the business.

I mean... I don't know about "whitewashing" but Riho was barely around and like it makes no sense to build her up or keep as part of the center of the division if she ain't gonna change that. I still kind of hope we do Nyla/Riho III at Revolution instead of rushing something with Stat/Swole. AEW needs to start building stories for the division and like they can build up challengers on the undercard while Riho and Nyla tear the house down and establish Nyla as the boss champ.

Dynamite? I got half a page done and half of that was Grateful Dead lyrics one of the protagonists was dancing naked to.

Ok.

God.... My dad and I had an amazing time at the show. While he’s driving us back, some thoughts.

-Dad’s favorite team is the Young Bucks, complete clusterfuck that was fun live. Don’t turn to the Dark Order, CIMA :ohdear:
-He didn’t care for Shanna/Statlander, but mostly cause it was a bit quiet from the crowd cooling down from the tag battle royale.
-Moxley is loving over, holy loving drat. It’s loud on TV but that doesn’t even come close to describing how much people love him live. Darby was also super over in his reappearance.
-Dad was really impressed with the tag title match, likes the Lucha Bros a lot, is a bit meh on Omega, but his man of the night was Hangman, who he immediately connected with, he was super into the spots Fenix pulled off.
-He was also extremely into Cody, when he started bleeding Dad let out an audible “Oh poo poo!” He also marked hard when Cody moonsaulted off the cage, and called it an incredible show overall, even despite his usual meh attitude towards wrestling.

Overall, I had an extremely fun time, go catch Dynamite live if you ever get the chance!

Weekly ratings are whatever. Its a bad habit and artifact from the Monday Night Wars to spark attention. AEW ratings are stable. They have an audience that keeps coming back. TNT renewed them early. And if they keep doing shows like this and last week than they'll build reputation and slowly win people over. TNT has the confidence, we should too.

And stop investing in the ebbs and flows of weekly ratings because that's just a "click bait."

I don't mind Riho not getting mentioned so much if she's not going to be around any more now than she was when she was champion. This felt like a big step forward in the division and focusing on the wrestlers who are available to be on TV every single week.

And I'm not like a Riho complainer or anything. I think she was a great first champ but it did start to wear thin that she wasn't around as often as a lot of other women. Hopefully she'll be back to wreak bloody hell on Nyla somewhere down the road.

Riho isn't being whitewashed they probably just don't want to mention her much since she's probably not available for a rematch.

Yeah that's what I was getting at, the ratings are good and they'll get over a million steady eventually but it will take a while

The ratings they have are beyond initial expectation and they've just been renewed for 3 more years and they're doing their best to wipe the wrestling is uncool stink off that WWE has done their best to taint it with

I kind of want them to slow play Swole and Stat. In a perfect world Riho shows up at least one more time to tear the roof off and put Nyla over hard at Revolution. Then you move on to the next chapter and build it up a bit. If you do Swole/Stat next week then you're just doing a 1 week build for someone to lose to Nyla. And AEW needs to get away from that bad habit with the Womens and Tag belts. Its fine to do that kind of thing transitionally now and then between bigger programs, but its kind of the main thing AEW does. They have to shake that up a bit and with Nyla having the belt, kicking rear end, and presumably being available every week they have a chance. Not to mention Britt establishing herself as a great "midcard" heel and a ton of compelling face challengers to choose from. So lets just set it up a bit and make something substantial.

These guys are the masters of post show promos. If you've never seen it in full before, the speech they gave after All In should really be considered a legit part of wrestling history at this point. It was before AEW was announced, and all they really overtly talked about here was another PPV, but they totally telegraphed all the way back then what they wanted to do:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lbj5awQuClQ&t=380s (I started it about 6 minutes in because there's a lot of fluff before that)

I was at this show live and it was after this that I started thinking "holy poo poo, these guys might really try to do something crazy, and it might actually work"
