i miss them. i would totally buy some bizarre frankenmouse with three buttons and a non-clickable wheel glommed on somewhere if it was also 1000hz and wireless. i have to use the middle button a lot in a ton of software and clicking the wheel is extremely non-ergonomic

my work mouse is a cadmouse i've had for like 6 years and it was kinda pricey, but it's got a middle button and just feels nice overall. i never use the weird radial button on top, but it doesn't get in the way either

a lot of cad software uses middle mouse button for confirm, so it's real nice to have a dedicated one rather than the scroll wheel.

alas, the wireless vers does not meet your 1000hz requirement. i use a cabled one and like it tho.

does anyone still use carpet sweepers that are like a non-vacuum manual vacuum cleaner

we have one of those lil non-powered push sweepers in my team's area at work, and it's surprisingly effective at getting up little stuff, and idk it's kind of satisfying to use. we end up with a cascading effect anytime someone uses it, where then everyone else wants to use it too.

would absolutely not use it for real vacuuming needs, but for office type low pile carpet and misc crumbs, it's fine.

I had this in the dash of my '66 Bel-Air back in the day. I'd love to see an actual modern take on a single-DIN deck, but now all you can get is some thing that hangs an ancient PDA a couple inches out of your dash, or the same 10 SKUs of segmented LCD trash that they've been making for 30 years with bluetooth slapped on half of them.

the main thing i remember about these aftermarket stereos is that you could pop the face off and take it with you so it wouldn't get stolen. also i knew a lot of people who had gotten their stereos stolen lol.

i had a convo a few weeks ago with some people about, weirdly i know, at what age we learned our ssns. most of them didn't learn them until their late teens/early 20s for college and work stuff.

i learned mine because we had to fill in our ssn with those bubbles on standardized tests, so i had mine memorized by around uhhh 3rd grade, and thought that was the normal age for it? but i was the only one in my 30s; everyone else was in their early 20s or early 50s and had no idea what i was talking about :(

these were the state-wide benchmarking tests, so class-level numbers or school ID numbers would have been kind of useless

as someone who has had many hours of knob discussions, the real crux of knob design is the quality of the rpg. the knob itself is still important, material still important, knurling, finish, etc, but nothing can make up for a lovely, mushy, badly detented, flywheelless rpg

i had a motorola l2 slvr for like 3 yrs. no camera, but the thing was an absolute fuckin tank. i stg i dropped that thing almost daily, but it didn't see more than a few scratches.

before that, i had a Nokia 3300b that i bought on ebay, but it never quite worked right with my cell carrier at the time, and i was a teenager who didn't know how to fix that kinda stuff. i bought it so i could listen to music, but it only fit like five songs lol. i was v disappointed, but i wish i still had it. it was kinda rad looking!

Early 2000s Korean online games. Ragnarok Online, Gundbound, Gunz: The Duel, etc. Pretty sure Gunbound was doing free-to-play with microtransactions a decade before mobile gaming ever did.

Edit: I remember when we first got cable broadband internet, downloading the Ragnarok Online client at a rock solid 300 kbps thinking that was the fastest anyone would ever need to download anything.

i remember playing gunbound during weekly ragnarok online maintenance

honestly i'd play it again, gunbound was cute n fun. i would not play rangarok online again
