I love that people saw a thing that cost a thousand bucks in a store, bought it "to see what would happen", and were then surprised when they ended up buying the thing for a thousand bucks from the store that was selling it.

i really miss gamefaqs style guides to be honest. these days most everything a video with a bunch of ads and stupid voiceovers and it's impossible to find the actual bit you care about. i just want to go to the section for "level seven" and read what i'm supposed to do. dont get me wrong, text with ample screenshots is way better than text alone, but i'll take text-only with sick ascii art over lovely videos any day

we had cable growing up, but it was the cheapest package. it was always really exciting to go to my grandparents house in another state because their basic cable package had the disney channel

actually it was exciting for other reasons but maybe getting to watch an episode of rescue rangers was pretty cool too i guess

I’m pretty sure it wasn’t “left out”

by 1985 the TI-99/4A was gone

I was honestly surprised to see the Commodore VIC-20 and Coleco ADAM in the list, by the end of 1985 they were also only being bought by the absolute cheapest of cheapskates on remainder and were clearly either obsolete (VIC-20) or colossal failures (ADAM)

the C-16 and C+4 were pretty clearly also going to be such failures because they lacked C-64 compatibility

oh yeah if it was so dead why did my mom buy one for like twenty bucks with a full software library from a guy at the factory around then or maybe a few years later, huh?

....oh :(

worst thing when building old pcs; when the motherboard had the 'misc' pin header block of maybe 10x2 single pins and a diagram where you'd have to connect other single pin-header cables from your peripherals / fans etc, usually once the board was in the case and you were fishing about a 7inch deep case with limiter clearances trying to hook the correct header to the correct pin.
