Just jumped back into this after a long break (haven't played since the first raid came out). Is it still normal for gear and skill mods to be nearly worthless? I'm picking up mods that have like a single digit percentage bonus, which is gently caress all. Increasing duration by half a second doesn't make much of a difference. I remember it being like this at launch but figured they might have done something different since.

What are some decent talents for ARs and rifles? I just slap ranger on them for the damage boost right now.

Also, is health attribute generally not worth worrying too much about? Am I safe to just replace that with something like cc or cd?

Also also, can I get an invite to one of the clans?

You can't roll away the health damage on ARs. It's useful for killing tanks and robots, which do not have armor bars and are considered all health.

Sorry, I meant +health on armour.

Yeah pretty much anything except weapon handling is better than a health armor roll. 18k health at level 40 isn’t even enough to survive 1 extra bullet.

What's wrong with handling?

The armor regen attribute only impacts the rate at which armor regenerates, right? It doesn't give you armor regen, you still need a talent or skill to trigger it?

I've started a new char with some friends and something has gone a bit goofy - none of them can open shd tech caches. The icons aren't on the map. They don't have the 'search drive' option in safe houses. It works fine for me.

We've tried it in group and solo and they're not showing up. What up with this?

Guessing the answer is no, but, if I've got the expansion and hit level 40, can I invite people who don't have it to play with me in DC?

Worth noting - if you have not completed New York, you can not leave New York. I had an issue where one friend was mid 30s in New York, the other was in DC with no Xpac, and we could not group. But that's because once you've started NY you can't leave until you're done. If you've completed NY, you can go help your lowbie friends back in DC.

I have completed it and am back in DC.

One thing they removed was the regular weapon/armour loot boxes from the Control Points, I suppose they were farmable once a day but seems like quite a small "exploit" considering it kind of required fast traveling around every CP to open the loot to receive 80%purple, 9% and 1% Gear set pieces.

fake edit: those numbers are just pulled out of thin air obviously

Where'd you see that? This is the only thing I can see in the patch notes:

quote:

Removed regular weapon/gear loot containers not scaling with difficulty from Control Points
Increased the amount of scaling loot from the big Control Point reward container

It's badly worded but that sounds like they made it so the containers now drop gear that scales with difficulty?

"Fixed regular weapon/gear loot containers not scaling with difficulty from Control Points", is how I'm reading it.

Unless what they meant was "Removed regular weapon/gear loot containers from Control Points (which were not scaling with difficulty)".

I've just been around a few CPs in-game and noticed they've been removed. Kinda sucks since as I said you didn't really get decent gear (I'm sure farming Lincoln Memorial would be a better use of time) but if you were going to those CPs it was always nice to open the loot up.

e: they've fixed missing debuff status icons from enemies which is good

Oh, right. Seems like a pointless change. Maybe the increased drops in the big box make up for it?

I don't really get why they reduced the number of elites. If there's a problem with difficulty, it's the crazy amount of damage the bad guys can dish out. This is a looter shooter. I want lots of looting and lots of shooting. Knock down their damage, but throw more of them at us.

Funny, I wasn't being that serious but so far the second game feels a lot flatter to me since it's a little more spread out and less urban - literal skyscrapers, rooftop access with patios and gardens and things, shortcuts through residential buildings with accessible apartments, underground connected train stations, etc. But that's Washington in real life. And I've barely been west of the White House let alone installed the actual NY expansion. And I'm a year late for original criticism anyway so... shrug. The shooting is still satisfying and the missions are plenty varied. (Back to lurking while I get high enough to understand all the gear posts)

NY expansion does a little more with the vertical spaces. I thought it was a more interesting environment to tool around in general. The underground bits are fun too.

Here's my mindless build, for when I want to watch ISAC play the game for me.

-In Sync and Future Perfect as weapon talents. Ideally the Perfect versions (Harmony rifle and Mechanical Animal AR). Perfect In Sync in particular is bananas, +40% damage boost as long as you and your drone/turret hit something every 5s.

-Technician spec, for bonus skill tier and extra skill damage.

-Tech Support (+25% skill damage on skill kill, lasts for aaaages) on backpack and Kinetic Momentum (+15% skill damage, lasts as long as skill is deployed) on chest, Mother Love gloves (+10% skill health) and Sawyer's Kneepads (big damage bonus for sitting in cover and not moving, which you will be doing a lot of).

-The backpack with Perfect Tech Support (+30% damage) and the Mother Love gloves are both Alps gear, so I have an Alps mask to get the +10% skill haste for three Alps pieces, a Wyvern chest (+10% skill damage) and a Murukami holster (+20% skill duration). Focus on maximising skill damage as an attribute on armor, skill haste isn't important for turret/drone builds. Your skill mods should all be +duration as well.

Thanks. I don't have Mother Love, and my Sawyer's have a terrible roll (health and explosive resist :/) but I managed to cobble something together with hard wired. A quick test seems to show this is working pretty well. Just have to get used to sitting back and letting the skills do the work.

I wish there was a little more flexibility with reconfiguration. It'd be nice to be able to change an attribute plus talent, even if you can only do it once to one of them, or there was an escalating cost each time. Or failing that, a bit more depth and customisation on the crafting side. Like being able to muck around more with colours and designs, or choose a guaranteed attribute or talent or getting some other kind of bonus. Hell, make crafting have its own skill tree with leveling. I'm always up for more skill trees to fill.
