Plekanec did manage to get 2G 2A for Toronto in the playoffs (which you may remember lasted 7 games against Boston), but yeah I can't believe the habs got a 2nd and two prospects for him.

the prospects were traded traded away anyway so it's a wash of a trade for both teams ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

The ten-year anniversary of Hawks/Preds Game 5 was a few days ago, which in hindsight was a franchise-defining game. It was like the Blackhawks flipped a switch at that moment and kept it on for the next 5 years.

actually the franchise defining game was the one that solicited this reddit post: https://www.reddit.com/r/hockey/comments/67lfcg/should_the_nhl_have_the_hawks_and_preds_redo/

Really appreciate the replies everyone!

Someone asked why we're moving. We've lived mostly in Colorado, but also Texas, San Diego, and New York. We are an interracial couple that has faced a lot of racism the past several years, and with Trump possible winning reelection, we're tired, as well as she has family in Canada. Hearing that both places are pretty multicultural is a relief. Plus universal healthcare sounds bomb. She does data science and I do front end web development. We mentioned Fort St. John because it came up as one of the best places to live in Canada, and the houses looked nice. We are both massive hockey fans, and she's a fan of the Sudbury Wolves, so that's why that was brought up, but since has been taken off the table. We are just in the beginning stages of planning, and don't plan to really do this until AT LEAST February of next year, when our lease is up. And even that might be optimistic with the pandemic.

Good food is a must, night life would be nice but not a necessity. We're looking for a starter house in the 350k-400k US range. I'm leaning Vancouver, and she's leaning Toronto.

Echoing the fact that living in Toronto proper is ridiculously expensive and home ownership is out of the question unless you're a literal millionaire. In fact, so many prospective Torontonian homeowners are being priced out of the market so they end up buying up homes in surrounding suburbs or cities like Hamilton, Brampton, Kitchener, etc. and just commuting 60+ minutes everyday to their job. Driving to and in Toronto is awful.

In their own right, the surrounding cities alright places to live with a growing diverse population but asides from OHL hockey there's not much else to do unless you like lots of outdoorsy things like trails and stuff. Plus there's nowhere near the convenience and accessibility as a city like Toronto with proper public transportation infrastructure.

I hate to say this, but you'll find that racism up here is not that much different from the States. Maybe less overt but it's there. The further away you get from the big cities the more you notice it. I'd like to think it's getting better and people are becoming more tolerant but it's a far cry from the racial harmony notions that liberal Americans have of Canada.
