Hello again, here's a dodgy phone recording of me dicking around with my Maschine Mikro 3, SR16 etc.

The main beat is off the SR16 and was programmed in Cubase, the Maschine is loaded with a few jungly beats I made with one shots and the pads are in 'pattern' mode.

Thanks!
I make a few trashy scribbles like this a week, really struggle with deciding if anything/a direction is worth pursuing or 'good' so most of it gets exported as an approx 1 min wav and then I don't save the project. Its... Not the most efficient working practice!

Edit: today's trashy scribble

Bit less droney. Help me I have listened to Pitchshifter's Submit EP 6 times today.

i recorded something today, culmination of 3 weeks or more of chord and theory study and slapped a funk preset drum beat on it to pick up the mood

I really like that Echi, I'm far too much of a wuss to post my naked guitar playing!

What did you use on GR6, that sounds really er... Guitarry?
I know people slag it for high gain but since becoming legit and not a dirty little :yarr: with musoc software it's all I've used for 6 months and I'm pleased with the sounds I get, but if you hadn't said that was guitar rig I wouldn't have guessed it wasn't a real amp and pedals, it's so organic sounding!

Ive got super into Reaktor Blocks recently making weird sequency things and am pissing off all 5 other musicians I know by harassing them with it, especially as the basic version is free

that was the rectifier clone on raw with the gain only half way

I am truly gutted I missed out on getting it on sale a while ago. i want it but not $297nzd worth, given it’s mostly to practice a riff or two

I have too little patience these days to sit down and tease out a song or verse/chorus, especially not so I could make some fake drums and make it sound ok.

it’s fun to play tho

grey stripe era is good, so is teal stripe

the guitarist in my lovely teen band bothered his dad enough that he got a 2x12 transtube combo and it was way too loving far loud for us but sounded amazing

this is what i have now, champion 100. looks like a blackface, has a 16 position "amp model" knob and that's it. it's as straightforward as you can get for a modern modeling amp

ive also never turned it up past 0.5/10 because it will shake my walls down

7 band eq, 12ax7 preamp you can fade in. 400 watts by itself and 575 if you hook up a second cab. I did that once and popped a circuit breaker when i hit a low B. thing makes your teeth rattle.

My 'grown up' amp head is a Blackstar tvp 100 which is 250 solid state Watts but has their wacky faux tube modelling stuff.
I haven't really been able to use it much the past year cos I don't have a cabinet at home (which would be overkill anyway) and also the built in cab sim is kinda wank and it's faff setting it up to bypass that and load a whatever after when Guitar Rig 6 is right there ready to go. Which is a shame.
I wish it was easier to bypass or even load a different IR into the Blackstar rather than use its lovely software over USB that doesn't let it work as 'an interface' to swap the emulated out into being the fx loop which bypasses the poo poo cab but wrecks the gain staging, but is also the only way to get just the sound of the head.

When used with a cabinet this head is real good. It's louder than you'd ever really need, and QOL stuff like saving presets and 6 amp models that are all useable is cool.
I pretty much had it to the point where all I'd need to do in different venues was adjust the master out, resonance and presence if needed and that was it. Soooo much easier than my bamdmates Dual Recto was, even though that sounded better lol

NonzeroCircle

I think those might want a preamp rather than DI. Could be wrong.
Does the bass have an active preamp in it where you have to put in a battery? I'd try a new one if it sounds weak.

Jonny 290
May 5, 2005

[ASK] me about OS/2 Warp
you need a preamp.

my jazz bass can't drive my amp into nice tubey overdrive

I bought a preamp/od pedal similar to this and leave it on a clean setting

https://www.amazon.com/Preamp-Electric-Guitar-Overdrive-Function/dp/B07PR8N266/ref=sr_1_5

gives you 20db of clean gain

"gain" is really weird. i have to run really close windows on the gain knobs on my input mixer strip, my interface, etc.etc. once you get into the Noise Zone on any gain stage you gotta either find out another stage to add gain to, or deal with it

My interace (Steinberg UR22 mk2) is odd about gain too, I pretty much have to memorise what each guitar likes as its input level. All are passive except my bass but it can range from 8 to 12 o clock on the input gain
