there are workarounds for that

and why would you need current-day plug-ins when you have TDM?

I got an EMagic AMT8 on eBay and it turns out Apple still provides a current driver and Logic still supports it

so now I have an 8-in, 8-out MIDI interface that I can use with literally any Mac from the original Mac 128 to the latest M2-based Mac

also when it comes to rock & roll there�s almost an honor in having used gear, your Aotearoa dollars will go much further if you find something using your local equivalent of Craigslist and it might have a cool story or two in its history

now that I�m retired my wife and I have been working on the music setup

we�ve had the Roland RD-700NX piano and some MD-8 monitors set up for years, now I have a cheap Behringer mixer between them so I can add More

now we have:

Alesis SR-16 drum machine
Yamaha VL70-m wind synthesizer, connected to
Yamaha WX-5 ~~electric clarinet~~ wind controller

and we�ll eventually my old i9 MacBook Pro 16in with an eMagic AMT-8 for MIDI�Apple actually still supports it in Logic!

(my understanding is that Apple could also make and sell new Atari Falcon 030 hardware if they wanted to, since eMagic got a license to do so back in the day�)

we need to do something for string input though, between my wife�s ukes, guitars, and lute, and my guitars, right now we only have a Yamaha AG06 MkII and a couple M-Audio M-Track Duo and she uses the AG06 as part of running games with virtual tabletop

we also have a few other things to throw in, my OP-1 and OP-Z and her new EP-1320 Medieval which is such a fun shitpost of an instrument
