so this economy now has this huge swath of people getting laid off soon or no work to do and this other swath of people who work in virus-affected sectors who are completely swamped and understaffed (anything to do with health care, logistics, delivery, etc) and we're def in a recession (though it's not official until retrospectively looking back 2 quarters later) computer touching is somewhere in both worlds, some firms are gonna layoff and some firms are super-well positioned (eg those working in home delivery or teleconference stuff)

Was oncall today, am oncall this weekend. Been working more productively these past two weeks than ever. I think I "know how to work from home." But I'm also working longer than intended, in part cause my roommate is working 12 hour days helping the poor (free legal aid, mostly medical/benefits related)

Those are not the same source, so the shelves go empty when everyone is also trying to stock-up weeks worth at the same time. Like there's something real there, but then the overexposure in the panic makes it a bit worse.

For a time I thought I had a poor sense of smell. Most things just seemed to have a neutral smell unless they were directly under my nose. But there were a few specific things I could seem to detect much better than others. Like cat pee, or alcohol, or cigarettes - all really strong and repulsive. If you're sitting across the table with me I can't tell if you haven't showered in a couple days but your glass of wine will be mildly unpleasant. And I find gasoline repulsive in any amount.
