Then again Disneyland already puts lots of effort into operations as it is so

it just occurred to me that this is sort of a worst-case scenario for all the people at goog, fb, cisco and the rest that are sleeping in vans at night to save on rent

well, you know, as wealthy people they can just get a short-term lease or maybe decide the box-truck-life isn't the best idea after all and finally get a place

I wish I could just buy a monitor/keyboard/whatever I want and hook it into my work laptop but unfortunately I'm not allowed to plug in non-employer-owned stuff to it so I either just need to go without or decide to grovel for them

I still haven't made a conclusion on WFH yet; definitely need to improve ergo, but being able to listen to music and have an open window and hang out with cats and having access to home niceties is good

I would coast just because if I quite work with no continuance to another job, I'd just devise tasks for myself to do instead, which likely wouldn't generate any income but then id never want to go back to work

my work doesn't have mandatory WFH still but I feel that's more because there's a good portion of people that can't do that anyway so why deal with the headache of saying who can and can't; basically you can just ask for permission if you have the ability to do work from home

other boomer thing: "I drive an hour into the city from the sticks where I live on an acre, so i'm already putting myself at risk. for those of you already living in the city, you're not at any more risk by coming into the office!"

also lots of management boomers are workaholics that resent being home so keeping people coming in let’s them continue coming in

I don't necessarily mean everyone involved with producing or disseminating those kinds of stats is trying to make light of things, its just that whenever that kind of thing comes up its used that way by politicians or people desperate for normalcy
