C WFH S: My boss is still doing the "I need everyone to be super productive this week so I scheduled 2 hours of planning + daily team check-ins" thing, just over video chat instead of in person. The good news is I'm transferring teams in a month and the new boss seems pretty chill. The bad news is that I've gotta wrap up all my current projects in that month and I'm finding it harder and harder to give a poo poo, since on top of the regular covid-19 stuff I also have team senioritis. teamioritis

"You have to stay at home and can't have dinner parties with your friends and no one will serve you while you shout at them for a few months" is literally the worst possible thing they have ever experienced in their privileged sheltered existence and they are absolutely losing it and it is going to end up killing millions. I mean idk the Vietnam War probably counts as adversity for the boomers who got drafted. I'd definitely take dealing with this pandemic over that, that was a horrifying war for pretty much everyone involved

It's cool, my hair is just getting increasingly rock and roll. Also when I finally shaved my corona beard, my wife convinced me to stop at a goatee instead of going clean shaven. She says she really likes how it looks on me but I always wonder if I just look like a huge tool

I've had multiple conversations with otherwise intelligent, left-wing, and pro-social justice people, where I will mention racism against the Roma people and they will respond with "yeah but I watched this reality show about them and they are just super trashy people", and I then have to explain to them (1) reality shows aren't reality, (2) what they watched was race-baiting garbage, and (3) they shouldn't fall for that sort of thing. So far they've all come around after I talked about it but it's wild to me that they never stopped to think any of those things before. I guess it goes to show that everyone is susceptible to propaganda.
