I work in an org where they picked 50% of employees and allowed them to work from home. Think about that for a second.

The best part is that it was by seniority so all the managers and adults are going to be at home while all the college grads are going to be going lord of the flies in the office.

Everybody has to go through a process to assimilate what's happening. The more aware you were about covid I think the earlier you got your panic attacks done with. Most people still have a long way to go.

Who foresaw that the school year of the entire world was about to be cut 3 months short and the entire state of california was going to be on lockdown in 10 days, 10 days before it happened. Being a prepper doesn't solve the problem. What are you going to do, work a garden for 5 years before dying from a tooth infection? It's poo poo. At the end of the day we're in this together and it's a myth that everyone can just turn into Robinson Crusoe and live off the land free from society. A libertarian fever dream. You're way better off, and all of us are better off, if you spend that time and energy organizing communities and practicing political action.

I'm getting more work done than usual, but I feel more lazy than at the office. At the office when I'm talking to people or looking busy reading the internet, or in meetings or whatever I feel like people perceive me as being productive, but then I replace all that poo poo with playing video games at home and I feel lazy.

Stay indoors, work out, find a sun beam to lay in, and don't feel guilty about disconnecting. We have months to sit inside and read the news, you won't miss a few days.

One thing I keep hearing from people in real life is that they're hopeful the current crisis will give way to a new era of progressive policies. They think that this virus will cause socialist programs to fall from the sky into our laps. This is ignorant in my opinion. Socialist programs only come from hard work, direct action, organizing, and relentless effort. Fascism is what naturally organizes itself from the failures of capitalism, not socialism.

The Third Reich trilogy by Richard J Evans is really good if you want to learn about German fascism. One of the main themes in them is that the Wiemar Republic was really unpopular and unnatural and most in the civil service hated it and wanted to return to monarchy. This led to a super fast dismantling of the democracy and a equally quick replacement with a fascist regime after the financial crisis. It's a similar type of fuel that drives american fascism, but we seem to be heavier on the plutocracy and it's taken decades to pull apart the institutions.

Some part of my brain is glitching out and making me shop for expensive poo poo I don't need. Booze, thousand dollar bongs, VR setups, computer parts, bike parts, guitars. I think capitalism wired my brain to just compulsively buy poo poo when I'm bored or lonely and the quarantine is making it super obvious. I haven't bought anything yet but it's becoming more and more noticeable.
