I hate leaf blowers more than anything else. Why are you using 5 leaf blowers for an hour every week in an empty and unused parking garage?? How is this essential? Go home you loving losers or buy a god dam broom jesus christ.

If you eat hot enough you can piss hot which I have experienced only twice.

Eat one of those novelty peppers on an empty stomach and report back.

it's good for mental health to have some small amount of human interaction, even if it's just at the cash register while you're both wearing masks.

incidentally san francisco has a simple county-wide ordinance that you cannot be served at any business establishment if you aren't wearing a mask, full stop. seems 2 work pretty well.

I don't think anyone is disputing the mental health benefits of social interaction. Instead they're pointing out the physical health benefits to ourselves and other of staying indoors during the pandemic. Not everyone has what it takes to stay in a tiny apartment for months at a time, and no shame to those that can't handle it, but we should all try our best, right?

Here in Virginia I no longer see masks except for my monthly grocery delivery where the drivers have had them each time. I don't know what the situation is like at stores because the last time I was in one was March 5th. I haven't seen another human in person, except from my balcony and grocery deliveries, since a dentist appointment I had the first week of March.

well we don't have any of those things. and we're reopening gradually anyway. hell of a lot better than trump, but no matter how science-based newsom tries to be, it is clear that californians aren't going to tolerate this lockdown poo poo for much longer

If it comes down to it and the US goes full speed ahead with reopening then at that point it's a competition between you and the people around you to not get sick. If 80% of people have to get infected before this is over then you will find me being more cautious than the 80%. I will leave my apartment with the last 20%, and I'm going to twist my family's arms into joining me in that cohort.

I have all the food, drugs, entertainment, and space that I need in my apartment. I can work out in my one bedroom, I can sit on the balcony for sun, I can use the internet, watch TV, read books. If I call this a hard existence then I'm a loving baby and I wouldn't be able to live with myself for being that weak.

ya i'm in the same boat. i'll be staying inside no matter how tired i am of it. but if you and i, in such privileged situations, are already feeling pangs of "gently caress this poo poo i'm going to the beach"... imagine how the rest of Normal Society that doesn't live on their computers is feeling? i expect things to get a lot worse before they get better, and by that point we'll have lost the initial panic and with it the public mandate to enforce social distancing and mask wearing and other safety measures that americans normally wouldn't put up with

Yeah absolutely. I guess the way I see it for myself is that I have to acknowledge my privileged by staying indoors and being as strict as possible about the quarantine. In my opinion the worst thing that I can do is go on an optional trip that endangers the people that actually are required to be out and about, and based on that I'm trying to push the envelope in defining what is optional vs what's required. I'm also pushing other people to do that because I can plainly see that everyone is letting their guard down at the same time that the actual risk of getting covid is at an all time high.

carry on then posted:

oh gently caress off

Keep in mind that we all want to resume our activities in a safe way. The more people that stay indoors, and the longer they push to stay indoors, the sooner that can happen. All these people letting their guard down, going to parties, beaches etc are ultimately delaying us by months when the 2nd wave hits. The best case, but impossible, scenario was that 100% of the population was perfectly quarantined for 3 weeks, and the virus would become extinct. Everything less than that has been a compromise based first on economic necessity and then later recklessness.

The big defense of billionaires at the moment is that they don't actually have billions of dollars in cash, it is all in stocks, so they really just have normal amounts of money along with control over some giant corporation. This somehow means that they are powerless to help anyone in any way. Never underestimate the enthusiastic willingness of poor people to defend the rich.

They have control over the largest companies in world how could they possibly be powerless to help? They seem to have unlimited ability to harm our social safety nets and create poverty, but somehow that power can't be used to help anyone. It's disgusting. Anyone who believes what you posted would have to come instantly to the conclusion that our system is poisonously broken and must be completely ripped out and replaced.
