hoverwife's hospital just updated their staff on the "crisis mode" triage procedure, which basically has them decide whether you're worth their time and equipment or not (you don't want to be labeled "blue")

this isn't just for new admissions, but for everyone currently in a hospital bed. so for example those vegetables are gettin their respirators yanked first. they aren't allowed to discriminate exactly on age, but they get around that with language like "lifecycle" and "in-progress life tasks" ie how much longer you might live if you fully recover and if you're a parent or about to be one, respectively

really she's more concerned that they aren't stockpiling morphine, since they already run out on the reg when they aren't expecting large amounts of people dying there

a buncha pages back, but I don't remember the water in SF being that good. but i was definitely in SV recently and the water was terrible. i scoffed at my hotel charging for bottled water but then when i tasted the bitter, over-chlorinated stuff coming out of the tap, I was tempted. does the peninsula/south bay have the same water supply?

i remember being like, man this would be hard to get used to if i ever lived here

sf is primarily supplied by the hetch hetchy, which comes mostly from snowmelt, though the reservoirs are also recharged somewhat from the local watersheds (runoff)

but yeah it's not filtered, because both of the higher-quality source and the properties of the reservoir itself keep the water from becoming cloudy - turbidity is why water treatment plants use filters

it can also be a lot harder and require more lead time than you might be used to in order to find an apartment in the city proper

but then again what do i know, i've had my circumstances change like 3 times now where my nice new downtown apartment led to me suddenly having a reverse commute 20 miles out of the city like a dumbass

in addition to not touching your face at all or adjusting your mask or anything, when you take it off you've gotta do it without touching your face (grab the straps on the back of your head) and then immediately wash your hands

we had a little over 300 people for less than half that, though we were able to do things like supply our own booze instead of being forced into using the venue's bar caterers' sourcing, for example
