the great thing about industrialization is that if you don't do it then you will eventually be "liberated" at gunpoint by a country that did

pre-industrial humans had cram periods and relaxation periods and i don't think it's good that we should be taking powerful mind-altering drugs to turn ourselves into industrious little 40-hour-a-week worker drones so that Our Betters will deign to allow us to have living conditions

i would absolutely be an alcoholic if i didn't have the worst alcohol tolerance of anyone i know.

not in the sense of being able to keep myself together while under the influence but in the sense of being stuck in bed and vomiting constantly for most of the following day. up to three beers is usually fine, anything more is pushing it. i don't think it's a genetic thing either as nobody else in my family seems to have this problem.

anyway that's my alcohol story.

no but you see they are the protagonist of reality

you wouldn't want to have them get run over on account of somebody not hearing them coming would you?

then the world would lose the protagonist of reality. and that would be terrible

pretty wild how (at least) a million people in the USA just straight up got killed by a thing and everybody's acting like it's nbd

some sad fucks really like to larp as Lord of the Manor for eight hours a day every day i suppose

there's various economic arguments about why rto is being forced so hard but it feels like just pure spite almost. employees like it so it must be stamped out for that reason alone.

well, thankfully my job couldn't do rto even if they wanted to. which they don't.

my idiot white rear end has managed to land rear end-backwards into a string of alright-tier jobs that paid me enough to live a modest solo existence despite a complete lack of redeeming features on my end

I love being fully remote at new job but I do wish the social channels had any activity in them at all. Old job had a lot of pretty active channels (mostly because we had a ton of offices across the globe so people were used to hanging out remotely) and it transitioned pretty well to fully remote. And since the channels were active it was easy enough for new people to jump in. I don't think its something you can really create without HR going full mandatory fun, which wouldn't work. Old job also had a lot more people with longer tenures (more than 3 years like nearly everyone at the new place) which maybe is part of the problem.

I have nothing against my coworkers but as far as I can tell I have nothing in common with them and don't particularly want to spend social time with them either and I think there is nothing wrong with that.

The difference between coworkers and friends is that you get to choose your friends.

Got a Omicron booster and Flu vacc shot scheduled for Monday

I should probably get a Monkeypox vacc soon as well but seeing as the main risk factor for that is intimate touching I'm not really at any immediate risk there ell oh ell

Oh and also New York State has declared an emergency over loving Polio now, great. Very cool. I think I should probably have been immunized against that poo poo back when I was born in the Soviet Union? Maybe? I dunno, may as well get a Polio shot as well I guess.
