my rent doubled one year when i was living in a city with no rent control my rent in ontario goes up usually around 2.5% per year i'll take the rent control over the benevolence of a faceless corp or wanna-be real estate mogul any day

No cars have to stop, no one in danger, ticket in the mail. in a lot of places in canada we have photo radar they set it up, it takes a picture if you speed by, you get your ticket in the mail a few days later you don't get points on your license because they don't verify who is actually driving but it's a lot less dangerous overall

re: canada, my left-wing friends and i had little problem trusting our centrist federal and right-wing provincial governments on this particular issue. everyone seemed to be doing their best and taking this seriously and not making it a right vs left thing at all
