Everyone has a Patreon! From people producing A grade stuff right down to every twitter person having a crap podcast or newsletter.

I have no idea what these people are thinking charging $5 for some of this stuff(the absolute gall of it), or how many lovely podcasts they think people are willing to subscribe to per month.

Its ridiculous!

Anyway I subscribe to 4 Patreons, all podcasts, that all I'm willing to pay per month.

Most of the patreons I donated to were people working full time jobs but that isn't enough to cover the cost of living, so also people can subscribe to see pictures of their boobies

I think subscribing to naked lady taking pictures of the self is pretty much ethically superior to porn in pretty much every way, and good praxis

Some of the women even got rich without doing the full nudity. Jessica Ngiri makes a bajillion dollars off her Patreon and has never done frontal nudity.

I wonder how many people use Ko-Fi or something

Patreon is great because it makes failed artists and comedians absolutely livid to see other people successfully making a living off of their own creations without having to compromise for advertisers and producers, just go from zero to FYGM faster than a boomer scoffing at the prices in a modern art museum.

I'd prob use Patreon or Ko-Fi for my writing if I was more consistent about output, or if the writing was my main source of income. Traditional publishing is basically dead so if you can't rub shoulders somehow to get an agent to dedicate more than 10 seconds to a manuscript, you're stuck relying on loving Amazon as the only real self-publishing platform

To paraphrase Chapo Trap House, pretty much all of America's grievance culture is built around the idea of everyone having a manager you can complain to and try to get them fired whenever they do or say something you don't like so Patreon drives the Sydnees and Karens of the world absolutely nuts because they can't cancel people's livelihoods when they're entirely listener supported.
