With the continued lockdown I managed to finish off a German campaign in DC:B.

This graph of the fuel supplies tells the tale. AGN (White) made excellent progress, blitzing all the way to Narva in a little over a month. But an oversight on the commander's part allowed the Soviets to raid the supply base and destroy it on August 1, leading to a near-critical situation for a month. Luckily the infantry armies were strong and the Finns pitched in to capture Leningrad in mid-October. AGC (Red) made acceptable progress to Minsk, but then ran into very stiff resistance and only pushed to Smolensk after another two months of fighting. They both inflicted and took the heaviest losses, yet the massive fuel shipments kept coming. Meanwhile AGS (blue) had to manage with a meager allotment of fuel, as Hitler felt it an unimportant sector. It was more active, although without much initial progress; the failure of the Romanians to take Odessa left the southern flank weak and a Russian counterattack was mounted that pushed us over the Bug. Once everything was cleared and Kiev finally captured in December, it was discovered that this front was effectively abandoned. Even though the panzers had to deal with blizzard conditions and lengthening supply lines, Rostov fell in less than a week in mid-January, to Hitler's delight (he'd changed his mind on the south by then). In the end a minor win was snatched from the jaws of an almost-certain defeat.

Train Nazi loved me, Truck Nazi at least liked me, and I was found innocent by the war crimes tribunal despite a few 'pragmatic' decisions.

Finished the Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. Trophy (Passed the Trial) because I can't be bothered to bring a screenshot over from the PS4.

I gotta say, the game felt pretty front-loaded to me. I enjoyed a lot of the Act 1 quests all the way through Skellige. The battle a Kaer Morhen felt like a great place for a game finale, but... the game kind of kept going.

Hanging out with Ciri and being a dad was some pretty great stuff, but the game's ending was a bummer. I was hoping Ciri would do more during the final fight, or at least not make me fight one of those horrible bosses at the end of the game. Caranthir was not fun to fight at all, and Eredin was... really a pushover? Like for some reason Caranthir was able to bring me from 100 - 0 in one or two icicles but Eredin could hit me with everything he had and not even make a dent.

A lot of the Act III stuff felt kind of tacked on. Like they had a lot to do in a very limited amount of time so they were like "gently caress it, throw it all in there". The Reason of State quest made us laugh because of the whole "well, we kind of lied about what we were doing..." "Well, *I* double crossed you all" "WELL I TRIPLE CROSSED YOU ALL!"

Ciri became empress of Nilfgaard and that whole part was pretty good, though.

I don't think it was a bad game by any means, btw. Just kind of wish they put as much time in act III as they did act I.

The Djikstra stuff surprised me because him making a bet that loving dumb, despite knowing everything about Geralt, seemed slightly out of character, but I guess that it was just a risk he was willing to take for the enormous payoff he'd get if it worked.

Lol I completely forgot about this...

but with the aid of some edibles, I did finish Tetris Effect, in full VR no less! (and unlike Skyrim VR, it did not make me violently nauseous) I may be criticized for finishing the easiest to finish game on that list but it should also be noted that:

1). I also finished Picross S4 and Bioshock (for the like 20th time, which I suppose is what this sort of bet is trying to prevent but w/e that game is great)
2). I also put like 80 hours into Animal Crossing and 20 into Doom Eternal
3). I was very much expecting Last of Us to be the game that I finished but was not expecting to bounce off of that game as much as I did, especially after that dope prologue.
4). My depression is in full swing being stuck the gently caress inside and I’m sleeping 10-12 hours most days

So I am going to immediately put my neck back on the line:

I will finish one of the following games by May 31
Control
Doom Eternal
Spider-Man
The Outer Wilds

I’m around the half-way mark in all of these, finishing one should hopefully be doable.

Okay, after several years of careful careful completion I have developed a pretty substantial backlog of PS4 games accidentally. I have also managed to leave several games half finished over the year and I want to clean that poo poo up.

I'm having decision paralysis regarding how to tackle the issue and could use some Confessional relief about why they are half done, as well as any insight that goons could offer.

So, in order of when I stopped playing them I have:

Nioh
The start of my backlog. I like the game a lot, and only have a few missions in the DLC3 to do. I am not doing The Grand Tournament or any of the mission unlocked by masteries not on my build. Mostly stopped to play Judgment, but also because I felt like the game hadn't shown me anything new since the midpoint of DLC1.

Judgment
I know it's dumb, but I just need to finish a Legend difficulty run to get my Platinum. This was my GOTY last year and I actually look forward to this.

Battle Chef Brigade
Don't know why I stopped playing. Was having fun, but got distracted. Pretty sure I was about 3/4 through.

Rondo of Blood
loving Death.

Silver Case
Really enjoyed the first couple chapters, it's slow to play but again, not sure why I stopped.

Curse of the Moon
Finished the first storyline, looking forward to the rest. Just wasn't in the mood for a long time.

Watch Dogs 1
Felt like a shooter and started playing. I had just finished chapter 3. Pacing is horrible and I hate all the characters. It's somewhat fun to play, and I have literally all of the side content done now (separate from pacing issues). This one is basically lowest priority, but I do want to finish. That and I got Death Stranding as a present at the time.

Bioshock 1
See above basically, only the game is way better. And it was already on the "Never Finished It On XBox" list.

Control DLC
Haven't even started it, but it's ready to go. Would have started it already but Doom Eternal came out.

FF7R
Stopped because I needed to finish BoTW and Bayonetta 2 in order to return my friend's Switch. At least that cleared then off the backlog. This is also the last in progress game, baring the yet to be released Doom Eternal DLC.

My list of Fresh Games is much worse, I won't post details but could still use help with opinions if anyone wants to offer.

AC: Odyssey, Sekiro, Watch Dogs 2, The Evil Within, Dishonored 2/DotO, Wolf 2, Alien Isolation, Bioshock 2, JJ Macfield, 25th Ward, 428 Shibuya Scramble, Knack 1/2, The Witness, Doom 64, Uncharted 3/4, Spider-Man, Yakuza 3-5, RE2/3, The Last of Us Remastered

I decided to power through and finish Nioh. My build is a glass cannon so the final few levels of the DLC took some real effort. It unlocked 4 more missions all of which are some extreme super boss bullshit. Decided that was good enough and called it done. I don't regret the decision. Feels good to clear that 50gb off the PS4 after a year.

Next up I think I will finish The Silver Case. It's a nice slow visual novel and I could use the change of pace.

There is no way I’m beating the Baldur’s Gates before the end of the month, especially since I’ve installed a few difficulty mods and implemented a few house rules that, while making the game very enjoyable for me, slow me down considerably!

(Also doesn’t help that I only started this past week despite making the toxx back in March)

So I can either eat the toxx and continue playing at my leisurely pace, or turn on Story Mode (party members can’t die) and just #yolo through every encounter, skip side quests (I wouldn’t need their experience point or equipment rewards), ignore companions, and not really enjoy myself in the process. Good job to all the recent completions. I hope to one day complete a game.

I'm still chipping away at Dark Souls 3. I love playing this game, but it is unnerving and maddening. There have been rooms with normal enemies that must have taken me 20-30 tries. I just hit the Grand Archives so I think I'm nearing the end. I messed up the Anri sidequest by accidentally clocking her with my claymore while we were talking and a bunch of skeletons ambushed us. Bummer. Was really looking forward to getting married. Also Hawkwood stole one of my Dragon parts and I can't beat him. Fucker.

I decided to bite the bullet and go through the Baldur's Gate Quadrilogy in Story Mode, and it hasn't been as tedious as I feared. It took about five hours, but I beat Baldur's Gate 1 as a solo Monk named J-Dawg. Monks are loving awful at lower levels, which is BG1's entire bit, so while Story Mode means you can't get reduced below 10 hit points, you still see all of the incoming damage numbers... and it isn't pretty. J-Dawg should by all rights be nothing more than a stain on a stone floor, but oh well.

I hadn't ever gotten to the endgame before, so it was especially nice to see how the story ended. Still, part of me wants to start over and play it correctly, but that will have to wait...

At least I got this achievement, that I totally deserve :smuggo:

Just wrapped up The Silver Case with the Platinum Trophy. Very good story, possibly Suda at his most coherent that I have ever seen. It was a very easy Platinum as long as you know where to unlock the Hidden Trophy on certain chapters. Added maybe half an hour to the entirely linear visual novel.

The game deals with some serious topics in general, but I highly recommend it to anyone who can tolerate an extremely dated visual novel. I have Flower, Sun, Rain on my pending list, but I think I might jump queue as I really want to see where this whole thing goes. It's also an original DS game and has been on my list for a super long time. It had mostly written it off until the remaster of The Silver Case came out. I also might sneak in a quick replay of Killer7 before starting the sequel to The Silver Case and FSR, The 25th Ward. Mostly because they are are a part of "Kill The Past" story line, Suda51's other major ongoing story other than No More Heroes. Although, they all supposedly take place in the same universe, but it's all rife with inconsistencies.

The Talos Principle is one of my favorite puzzle games of all time along with the Road To Gehenna DLC. I managed to solve all the core puzzles on my own, but don't feel at all ashamed for looking up solutions to the Star Puzzles. They are more like super obscure secrets in a Serious Sam game rather than actual puzzles and are some bullshit as a result.

I think you may need a certain number of Stars to access the last set of puzzles, but not all of them.

Flower, Sun and Rain is done. Excellent game overall even if it specializes in wasting your time and mocking you for engaging with it. Extremely tedious at times and the puzzles are hit or miss (and technically all the same), but Suda51 through and through.

Also been working through Curse of the Moon. Done 3 of 6 endings. My average loop is about an hour and a half now, so really not much longer either.

I think I will start up The 25th Ward as my cool down game though. Silver Case and FSR had me riveted and I want to know where this goes.

Backlog wise I think I've settled on Watch Dogs 1 and continuing to run CoTM. There are fewer missions in the entire remaining game than there were in chapter 2 of WD1, so hopefully it won't be drawn out. Once I run out of endings to CoTM I plan on finishing up Rondo of Blood as well. I watched a video of how to beat Death and it doesn't seem that bad really. :commissar:

It really is such a wonderful game, I've definitely never played anything like it. It's sort of a cross between Metroid Prime and a detective game, and the intricacies of the design of the world and how fluid it is to get around are really astounding. Plus there's no killing things, it's all tools and exploration and puzzle-solving. I cannot wait to see what that team does next, or if someone goes out there and tries to top it. I just hope it doesn't take as long to make the second time around.

I won't lie, fatigue set in pretty quickly, mostly because they made every two-bit mage in the expansion able to stop time and hide behind twenty layers of defenses, so fights with them took forever; there was also one notable fight that took maybe half an hour. But I'm happy!
