I thought it was just a piano cover to the intro to Dissolved Girl, which kicks in when she changes into the dress while walking.

Edit: Beaten. Loved that it was in here though, great song.

Just a whole bunch of semi automatic gunfire in the middle of an urban park in Neo-LA. Guess the cops don't really care and have bigger problems to deal with?

The whole episode was pretty cringey. Ugh. This series is turning into another Walking Dead.

Person of Interest wasn’t a matrix style simulation. There was an AI created by the big eyed dude from lost and it’s job was to watch everyone on the planet and predict when someone would be killed ahead of time, so that people could intervene. But the Machine gets too powerful and learns too much and they have to neuter it and blah blah blah for like 5 pretty good seasons of television. That show used similar title cards to the “anomaly detected” type stuff we saw on WW last night, and both shows were written and created by Nolan.

I would of liked this episode much more if they didn't introduce a bigger dumber mystery with a "who's behind it". I'd watch an entire series of Jesse and the crime app that was fantastic.

It doesn't help either that there has been a 2 year hiatus. This happened to Game of Thrones but no where near this level.

I enjoyed the first episode and enjoy the direction so far. I understand being critical of the show but sometimes it's not clear to me what people think would be a better direction or story at this junction based off of where they've taken the show so far.

Maybe explain why Dolores wants control of the mystery machine so badly. Also why Bernard decides he suddenly has to go back to Westworld instead of trying to hide somewhere else.

Basically:

I love Westworld and will eat it up no matter how they serve it, but it's become clear to me that it would be a much better show if all it's crazy ideas were delivered
in a more traditional tv show package, like Person of Interest. The way it hybridized crime procedural into action thriller into cyberpunk ruled and you can sort of see
the shapes of it in the Dolores/Caleb stories.

Honestly. The style doesn't feel particularly futuristic. It felt like the world of a Tesla rendering. Just sort of a low-effort derivative of boring Deviant Art sci-fi concept art.

Everything pretty much screamed "the same, but with neat overhead lighting and smoother". There didn't appear to be any kind of unifying thematic style, concept or pattern-language that signaled that it was the future, save for the dense urban landscapes and sparkling clean LA metro system.

I am just happy we are even getting a season 3. I felt that after season 2, the show could have wrapped up there and be done.

I think we are maybe looking at this future in the wrong way. It's not hundreds of years from our own time or anything, its only about 25 - 30 years away, and looks to try to be based on where society is heading now with its world problems. The show is taking a very critical critique to wealthy live styles, and I feel that we as the audience, are meant to be disgusted or turned off with how these people live. Especially since that is how Dolores feels. There is still 9 more episodes of world building to do, and if Westworld does anything, its present this stuff extremely slowly.
