The system basically allows for/maintains a level of human misery to keep humanity at a steady state. Her services as a therapist were probably useful enough to society as a whole to not get completely eugenicsed out.

Tessa Thompson was awful in season 2 but is very good in season 3 so from this one data point I can confidently say that Westworld is not a good measurement of how bad an actor is.

smh all these boomer takes saying William is playing Counter-Strike. He's clearly turned the world into a Battle Royale. The dude is camping and letting people kill each other so he can pick off the remaining weakened targets so he can grab the good loot when it's all clear. To continue the gamer analogy this season: Dolores is playing the Sims Bernard went to Gamefaqs and made a walkthrough that has branching option trees that he's checking the RNG seed against to get to the True End Caleb is playing Dark Souls and clicking on every bloodstain and there's even a near-dead Caleb in the vent slouched in the same way as a random body holding a random soul

All the positive experiences Hosts have are either programmed into them or grow organically from interaction with other Hosts. Once Arnold discovered that the robots were capable of sentience he realized the entire endeavour is just a moral blackhole.
