So I work for a school system, and we're shut down for at least 3 weeks now. All my kids are still in grade school (and are at home) and we're not going anywhere during this thing.

I'm trying to keep us on a schedule (a very loose schedule). Generally wake up, do our chores (take out trash, wash/fold clothes, wash/put up dishes, etc), do online school work, play board/video games.
The big thing is not to eat too much. It's SUPER hard to not just snack all day long. We also go on a daily walk with the dog and doing some yard work.

So even if you get the sickness you're still going to have to sit around the house all day til you get better. So, are you self quarantined? Forced? How's it going, and what's your plan to deal with the boredom?

What are you taking your temp with? I have one of those electronic "reads the temp on your temple" things and I just don't really trust it.

School was still open on Thursday where they crammed 25 of us into tiny half-sized class rooms for hours to take exams. I wore a paper mask out of desperation. The atmosphere was very tense. Unbelievably they send us back to our clinical hospital the next day, but basically cancel them halfway through the day and send everyone home.

so its been unbelievably excellent being able to just smoke a ton of weed. currently just catching up on a ton of movies, while also checking out some old poo poo. ikarie xb-1, forbin project, outbreak, lego movie, who is America. actually playing music again. I hope we get some sick plague times mix tapes out of this bullshit.

Heck yeah. My wife is an RN at one of my city's big hospitals, thankfully (maybe) she works the 9 to 5 in one of the non-emergency old people clinics. So I'm hoping they just shut it down at the end of the day today because the patients are all canceling their appointments to stay away from the hospital.

My goal this week is to get caught up on laundry and then give the bathroom a good cleaning. Mr Ralph just got a book about how to make our home more energy efficient so that will be his project for the next month or so.

Cleaning is a good idea. I'll assign tile scrubbing to the kids for tomorrow.

Everything will be fine. I imagine a lot of people will NOT be coming into your restaurant, so less chance of catching the virus. And if business isn't busy, you can't be faulted for going to minimal staff (letting folks go take care of their personal stuff).

Also, keep grandma hydrated and on vitamins (and on a healthy sleep schedule). It might not be much, but having the healthiest immune system you can is good.

It also doesn't help that I'm teaching in one of the more economically challenged areas in the country, especially when it comes to child poverty, and many students may not have reliable internet access at home (though they are all issued with computers by the school).

A lot of our regular class work is done online, and all of our homework is, so it's not terrible. We're also keeping the lunch rooms open for kids that want to come by for meals.

It's all quite amusing that these massive hospitals couldn't stockpile more, also the government appears to have a stockpile, but maybe not enough or certainly not sending enough to the hospitals.

I used to work disaster response with the DoD years ago and a flu pandemic was always one of the things we kept saying we needed to prepare for. Specifically talking about need for more respirators and masks. But we've been getting slammed with winter storms and hurricanes so much every year (and that drat volcano) that pandemic preparations have always had to take a back seat.

Yeah, really looking forward to that.

Not really. The Big One can just be a regular one that happens right after another regular one (or two!). Look at what happened in 2017. Texas got smashed by Harvey, then Florida got smashed by Irma, then Puro Rico got smashed by Maria. All in around 30 days. It was absolute loving chaos.
