I thought he was implying we're weird for thinking of dogs names years before getting them.

My gf is Chilean and chanchi means piggy, and is used as a term of endearment in Chile. She calls me chanchi too. Just as every single word in Spanish it propably has vastly different meanings in other Latin america countries, so it propably means assfucker in Mexico or whatever.
