How do you find a local chapter?

Either post in the forums or slack, or contact them directly through their info on https://socialistra.org/chapters/

I'm not looking to join but I have a question about the slack thing.

Can't you just boot people? Reading these last few pages it seems like a classic case of the the 1% of noisy assholes ruining everything for everyone.

I nearly peaced out on TFR when I landed in the Discord without checking the forums.

It is the classic case, but the organizers at the national level have never dealt with this sorta thing (they are all early 20s) combined with sectarian tensions and some cliques. IT's getting better, but those experiences have shaped how a lot of people view the slack (myself included)

I have this, it’s great. Wore it into a gun shop in Memphis once, one of the guys behind the counter first thought it was “some anteefa bullshit” and was then bummed to learn that the singer of his beloved Copperhead Road is a communist

Make sure to mention John Walker's Blues too. That got a lot of people with copperhead road t shirts angry too.

It's kinda sad how being a decent human being to your fellow man (like how Jesus said to do) is now seen as being communist and evil, while kicking down on the unfortunate is perfectly A-OK. I guess that's just human nature though, we like punishing others for imagined slights more than helping them solve their root issues.

The organizers being in their early 20s makes a lot of sense considering how the slack and infighting have been dealt with. There seems to be a lot of naivety

Not human nature. Decades upon decades of propaganda in a country founded by slave owners who didn't want to pay taxes.

This is unfortunately a common theme in many leftist circles and the only thing we can really do is be patient with each other and stomp out sectarianism with an iron boot

Shit.

So there is no local chapter near where I am, which is a large working class town. Can I post a thread in organizing trying to get people to coalesce a bit and start a conversation? These forums don't look like other forums I've used in the past.

Also yeah the Slack poo poo sucked and is why we can't have nice things.

Yeah I would just post a thread and see if you can start a chapter.

I would also make a post in the slack introductions channel. I thought I was a loner until we started organizing my town and found there were like a dozen of us just chilling chapterless.

Also sexism, religious bias, jingoism, and so on. Don't do it, people!

Dogs, don't do it either, even if the police man really tries to train you to do it.
