I got codenames duet recently and have been enjoying that with my girlfriend, it's a nice little variant for two player even if I generally prefer the pictures version

I don't think deliverymen have time to think about anything, they don't even have time to piss. And even if they did, I hope they're not opening people's packages to see what they're buying. I don't recall any laws or instructions saying you're not allowed to order stuff, unless they expect people to stare at the wall for two months.

It's jarring reading this thread from Germany where essentially other than mandatory masks in stores and public transportation, nobody is giving a gently caress and life us pretty much normal again. Our infection rate has been going down steadily too and our current number of active cases is around 8200ish

Meanwhile you guys are still in full lock down mode with cumgate going on.

We stopped testing at all for ages early on, stopped enforcing the 2 week quarantine on people entering & **never had a lockdown at all** in several significant industries (factories, construction) which are laughably non-essential.

The lockdown we had was incredibly weak and not enforced at all in any way, though we have abandoned all parking enforcement where I am for some reason.

The Government have specifically told people masks are worthless at times, so no one is wearing them.
None of the supermarket staff have even been wearing masks at any point.

That said, the general mood is don’t give a gently caress any longer, re-open everything.

Are pubs, bars and restaurants open in Germany yet?

Is anyone going to be using that tracing app, assuming it ever gets released.

Personally, there's no way I'll be having anything to do with it, it'll go from "Of course the data we gather will be strictly limited and confidential" to "We have and have always been very clear that your personal details may be used for certain commercial purposes, which is why we've sold your bank details and phone number on to China. Suck it up, mugs."

Yes, as of last week, albeit with hard limits. Same with Zoos and a few other public buildings, stuff like the unemployment office is still closed, which is poo poo cause I got laid off cause of the Rona.

Which is funny cause I had the Rona cause of my work, being a mailman but stayed at home, which my boss didn't like apparently

Not in a million years would I trust this government to handle this data properly. Or to do anything properly, really, other than gently caress with poor people.

Strange this. Mail service is privately owned in Germany? After more than a decade of tory misrule it's the only publicly owned service that has not been decimated.

Yes. Deutsche Post is privatised, so are its competitors. I worked for both.

I'm done being a mailman tho, job sucks, pay and benefits are trash, and woe you being truly sick from working outside in the rain on foot or bike all day.

Fun fact, my boss probably got rid of me cause my wife is 8 months pregnant and I would have stayed at home collecting Elterngeld from the state for a year without working, but the official reason is my sickdays, which are entirely cause of Rona.

I'm sorry you got laid off, Jack-off lantern.

Royal mail and the post office here are partially privatised now, and seperate companies which messes with people's brains a bit. I work in a post office and I basically refused to go to work from the last week of march because I have wierdo health conditions and I reckon working in the post office is one of the places you're very likely to be exposed. Direct face to face conversation with 150+ people a day, most of them older people who don't care about the Rona, and lots of cash handling. Lots and lots.

If Royal Mail were fully privatised, businesses wouldn't be able to have their door-to-door delivery of marketing bollocks subsidised by the taxpayer.

Nah, it's not illegal since its just his decision to not renew my contract. The union guy told me I had a good chance to get my job back if I would sue, but I do not particularly want it back.

Yup, it's usually a 50% paycut tho, and you can stagger the year however you want

Absolutely not. The fact that they're ignoring the well thought out decentralised approach built into the OS that Apple and Google are offering to do their own thing that will undoubtedly fail to safeguard anyone's data if it ever even comes out should be a massive red flag. Everything else about Test and Trace is shambolic, there's no way the app won't be too.

Monopoly has taught me you can be both evil and incompitent as the rules of that game are so badly described, to the point that the Free Parking rebate is just accepted as common law, that it turns from Capitalism as Fun to Capitalism as Frustration.

And even then, it's intended operation doesn't work as fun too much.

So it turns out I'm misremembering -- it's Socialist Monopoly that is out-and-out mean-spirited. Ms Monopoly is merely incredibly patronising: you get to pick a wine glass as one of your counters, women get more money for passing go, and the community chest cards mention twisting your ankle in high heels. FEMINISM IS SOLVED.

I selflessly rescued an abandoned cat during the COVID-19 Pandemic :3:

I am supposed to phone the vets tomorrow at 11:30 to see what the final verdict is on kitty. I'm so loving restless over it, it's ridiculous. I am hoping that her ear infection is just that, if it's something like cancer then I don't know what I'll do as it would be completely uninsurable and cost mountains of money. Selling my paintings on SA has been overwhelmingly amazing and basically nearly doubled my income this month, but that money can't just disappear on one vet bill, it has to support her food, her insurance, etc .

I guess no word from them is good, it likely means there's nothing serious or her owner didn't spontaneously turn up after all.

This cat though, has pulled me out of a deep emotional funk. My sort of partner who I was supposed to go to visit in LA on the 19th march, got a girlfriend and moved her in for quarantine like, a week after meeting her. This is a guy I'd been with for 5 years and only 'broke up' with because I had to move back to the UK due to visa ending. I am still deeply in love with the fucker, this visit I could tell would be the last time it might happen and I was gearing up for a proper goodbye.

Of course, that didn't happen and I've had such a weird last couple of months dealing with the fallout. It was just becoming more and more like my life was completely hosed as the days drew on, not able to move forward and get myself sorted. I was doing NOTHING. no enjoyment in anything. And then this cat walked into my life and suddenly my apartment is spotlessly clean, i'm reorganising things, I'm selling my paintings (to goons, but gosh dang) and I'm just completely wrapped up in the wellbeing of this small fluffy creature. I'm no longer a spiritual person but she's come at just the right time. I can see why some people go doolally over animals and think they're angels or what the gently caress ever.

Anyway, cats are better than people. It's a fact.
