Holy poo poo I bought this game on April 1st and I've already got 45 hours in it. I mean I'm single and stuck inside due to quarantine but this is probably the most I've binged on video games in a loving long time. I kind of missed doing this. I loved vanilla P5 but this version is just so much better. I'm glad I never pushed my friends to play P5 so I can make them play this version now, it's so good and time just melts away.

Jesus Christ you guys weren't kidding about the 5th palace boss. That was some straight up poo poo haha. I managed to take it down on my first try with 2 minutes left, but man I was biting my nails. I came in with Morgana and Ann equipped with Psy accessories per the suggestions in this thread and that helped a great deal, but man the entire fight I was thinking "Ok, this has to be the end"... and it wasn't. If I didn't read this thread beforehand I definitely would have run out of time. Burned a lot of items, which was ok because I always end up hoarding them anyway. Glad they finally got some use.

Mementos rules so hard now. Post 5th palace, I'm just driving around running over shadows, went from 300k to 2 mil yen. Phantom thieves should just give up their day job of changing hearts and just drive around Mementos all day long, become rich!

Just beat Palace 6 in my game, haven't sent calling card yet. I forgot just how good this game was. I bought it on a whim on April 1st because that's the day I got the notice that Amazon was delaying my FF7R shipment, and now I'm so into this game I don't even want it to end to move on to FF7R.

Just beat to the end of Persona 5 proper! I'm looking forward to delving into the new content now, heard it's really good! Not expecting too much of a challenge anymore though, since I have a freshly minted Yoshitsune now.

Just finished this game at 111 hours. Persona 5 vanilla took me like 89, and I feel this was a much better game this time around too! Some minor third semester thoughts: Game really had me worried for a while. I got Sumire's rank 9 on something like Jan 22 or something, thinking I had a ton of time to get her rank 10. Then some cold wave hit, and she was never ever available again. I really started to worry around January 30th, so I finally dove into Mementos and Maruki's palace and got those done. Then she finally became available again on Feb 1st for rank 10, which left me Feb 2nd to get her 3rd persona. Also the music at the end was so loving good. I love this game so much. I bought this as a stop gap for my FFVII being delayed, and now I don't think there's any possible way that I'll enjoy it more than this one. Also the last palace was hilarious. I ran mementos so much that by that point in the game, every enemy was a green outline one so I just ran around that palace instakilling everything that wasn't a set fight. Ended the palace at lvl 97, so I just ran around smoking mooks by running into them for another 15 minutes and got lvl 99 for all the group. Honestly, don't concern yourself too much with what other folks are doing with their schedule. The people talking about pounding out the palaces in a day are probably Persona vets who know much more about SP management and whatnot. Take a couple of days if you need to, and if you feel like you're underleveled, then grinding a bit between floors isn't too bad. Also you need to know that SP items usually aren't unlimited. I think every vendor that sells them (mostly vending machines) at this point in the game have extremely limited stock, so don't think you can rely on those. They also tend to be pricey. The first palace is always the rough one for SP stuff, but just for a note, if you work on the Death confidant, at rank 5 she'll start selling accessories that give you SP back each turn, and at rank 7 she'll give you half price on those accessories.

Oh no doubt, I still had four of the SP accessories but really only equipped them when my party member's SP started to dip a bit near the beginning of a palace. I would be constantly switching accessories around all game long though.

Last boss / end spoilers Maruki was a waaaaay better final boss than fake Igor. The entire palace and third semester plot was totally fantastic. And oh god the music, I still can't stop thinking about that music. I even loved everything around Akechi, a character I didn't care much about in P5 vanilla. His revamped confidant and third semester content was just so great. Kasumi/Sumire was also great. I thought she was kind of a boring character at first, but that twist for her was pretty well done. Couldn't help but put her in my final party at the end even though I already basically had a set party. I'm super impressed with the P5R new content, it fit in so much better than P4G's added content. Marie was kind of lame, though I did like her poetry. Her dungeon sucked balls too. My only complaint was that I wish third semester was an actual third semester, with way more events stretching all the way from January to March, rather than giving you like 20 days, the Valentine's event, the White Day event, and the goodbye. No regrets romancing Kawakami but man some of those requests for massages and doing my laundry felt real awkward haha. Give me P5S now Atlus, I wanna hang out with my weirdo friends more.

Finally she was able to hit rank 10 on Feb 1st, letting me spend Feb 2nd getting her third tier Persona. It worked out for me in the end, but I had to let 2 mementos requests go undone because of the timing.

The absolute best ones are Queen x Noir and Skull x Fox. I liked Crow x Joker and Violet x Joker but Joker doesn't really add much, both were more showcases of the new members.

Rewatching the final calling card cutscene, another brilliant scene in a series of great moments at the end of the new content. In a game where the calling card is sent out over creative ways to generate hype, this is a moment where our protagonist just casually tosses it on the table to another man who expects it and quietly picks it up. I loving loved this little moment, so quiet and sombre. You can feel how these two don't really want to get into a fight with one another.

Just give it to another party member to charge Joker each turn, poo poo's hilarious.

Ryuji is definitely my favorite bro character, but only because Yosuke was my least favorite character from P4 and honestly I don't think I really liked anyone from P3. I know a lotta people like it but my time with P3 was mediocre at best. I feel like it was probably because I only played P3P and that the game was basically a visual novel at that point, with every important scene described in text instead of showing me it happening.

I think the biggest issue for me for the (Mid September spoilers) Morgana splitting with the team thing is that it came right off the Hawaii trip, which was basically one large, long, unplayable cutscene. Going from one large, long, unplayable cutscene into another one back to back was a rough part for sure. I think it would have been a lot better if those two events were separated by some gameplay moments at the very least. I actually don't really even mind that event, I thought it had a nice cute conclusion. Beauty Thief's introduction is amazing every time I see it, so hilariously awkward. But man did they just not let you play the actual game for the longest time.

I guess I disagree there. Ending spoilers I think the "Oh poo poo, god outta nowhere" is always my least favorite boss in any Persona game. It was probably done best in P3, but yeah, I prefer fighting people I have more of a connection with, like Adachi and Maruki. I always wished Adachi was the real final boss in P4, and going into Maruki in P5 was so much more fulfilling than yet another god that we had to shoot in the face (stylishly).

And at your point in the game, I wouldn't worry. If you're guts 3 at the 3rd palace, you're in good shape. There will be plenty of time to do that confidant later.

I remember in vanilla at least in mementos, it triggered if you did the X button attack on a shadow that's too low, but this version that'd trigger a regular fight. I guess this was so if people wanted to do the fights they could. I didn't figure this out for the longest time either, wondering why I was not instakilling.

Just keep a couple of things in mind: Focus on Temperance as much as possible early on. It's worth an awful lot of free social stat points throughout the game. Her rank 10 also gets you back a significant amount of nights. Get Fortune to rank 5 as early as you can as well. That will save you many days and nights in exchange for money, which is easy to get. Her Money and Luck readings are also extremely useful.

Welp, got an update on this crazy teeth pulling experience on getting those Persona 5 Royal avatar and theme bundles. Originally got only the set from getting the platinum, talked to Sony two weeks ago and last week, and they said they'd escalate my case. Contacted them again today for the third time, and they got me two of the codes! The only set I am missing now is the very first one for beating Kamoshida's castle. Sony rep said that they were currently out of codes for that set, so I guess my thing isn't done yet. Will try again next week. I don't even know why I want these themes so badly lol.
