Oh, so she got mad bc people were calling her Karen bc of her terrible transphobia? Sounds like a TERF to me.

Like I definitely believe Karen CAN be used misogynistically, just like everything else that refers to women and some things that don't. It's also not always that funny an observation. Doesn't mean it's inherently misogynistic, though.

Actually study the history/philosophy of trans care before you defend the creeps that invented the field and, unfortunately, the dominant definition of modern transgender identity thereby.
Medicine needs to be made properly with high standards. Medical history as a whole is riddled with a lot of bullshit and biases that, unfortunately, are contemporary as well as historical, and the contemporary institutions can only improve by recognizing the mistakes of both the far and recent path even if that makes them uncomfortable, such as what you've pointed out about how transmedicalism is uncomfortably penis-focused and shoves trans people into very narrow narratives.

I think what ppl are making fun of is just the idea of 'the existence of medical facilities is bad'. You could argue that OP was merely suggesting a massive institutional shift that provides high-quality medical care more equally and accessibly, but I'd argue such a shift would still produce something we'd call 'hospitals' even if the institution was pretty different. And it can also be read as 'let's just make medicine in our backyards'.

Just a tad.

For the record, she's also wrong. People at least put a curtain up and tried to stay quiet. Loudly loving your wife in front of your kids was considered as much of a faux pas as it is today.
I do think there can be an overreaction to even the suggestion of sexual content in American culture - tenfold if it happens to be queer, in which case even chaste hand-holding and the explicit confirmation of being a couple can be seen as 'adult content'.

That does not mean we need to just start sucking dicks in public. People have the right to opt out of seeing that stuff.

If an adult chooses it for themselves, that's one thing, but parents forcing it on their kid is something that doesn't sit well with me. To me it's like parents denying a poorly-sighted child glasses.
Except, unfortunately, implants don't perfectly 'cure' deafness, are a permanent surgical solution, and can in some cases end up causing pain and distress because of distressing sensory imput that is poorly filtered. There are valid reasons to argue it's something people should wait to decide for themselves, unlike wearing glasses, and unfortunately the best results for getting the implant seem to result when it's gotten as an infant, which is the argument for doing it early.

It's dangerous to argue making an informed decision to not give your baby a cochlear implant is abusive. It's more like not giving a baby experimental eye surgery that at best results in grainy blurry vision and can cause lifelong complications. Do I think it's important to improve the options we can offer people? Absolutely. But you can't treat them like magic bullet 'cures'.

I just think it's possible to discuss male victimization in a feminist manner - for example, the idea that men can't be hurt by women because women are small and weak is very patriarchal, as is the fact that both men and women struggle to report because of how being abused is seen as a moral and physical failing. It doesn't have to be a conversation about who 'deserves' limited resources because we can all be on the same side of survivors deserving protection from abusers.

The narrative of it simply as a gender dynanic also ignores intersectionality, tbh.

Unless you want to blame the actions of feminist groups on the patriarchy, of course.
No I'm saying by framing women as exclusively victims those feminist groups were ironically still being really misogynistic. I'd like to read up about the issue sometimes since i know DA is dramatically under-reported anyway, so I can't imagine it's easy to figure out what the ratio actually is, esp with the base idea (abusers are male) being so pervasive.
