I'm leaning towards Webley Mark IV that has had it's top break hinge repaired. Weird looking revolvers. I kinda want one. Big rear end bore so probably chambered in .455 putting it at late 1800s through WW1. But as Levar Burton always said, "don't take my word for it".

i had one when i lived in texas (couldn't bring it to new york with me) - mine had been bored to take .45 ACP - and i agree that's exactly what this looks like to me.

Yes, it's a Webley. The bore size suggests .455, which was last produced in 1923. Assuming it's not an air gun replica, I wouldn't want to shoot a gun in that condition.
ftr the surface of the metal of my webley looked exactly like that and it was 100% fine shooting it (although I did prefer to use handloads because modern .45 ACP has more boom in it than WWI .445 and i didn't want to risk blowing the 100-year-old frame apart)

it wasn't clear to me from the context, but i'm admittedly stupid! still don't think whether we were allowed to be open about our queerness on SA or not has any relevance whatsoever to whether the term was used in queer culture before it made it to childfree forums (it was, it was used among queers at least as early as the 1970s, although it was surely also used among straights before that as well) but again, i'm admittedly stupid!

Not to make this into a whole thing, but is almond milk worse for the environment than just regular milk? I know compared to a lot of other plants and nuts almonds are huge water hogs, but so is everything involving livestock. Genuine question.
Cow's milk is worse for the environment than almond milk; it uses significantly more water and produces significantly more greenhouse gases etc. When you're comparing almond milk to other non-cow milks (like the post you quoted which compared it to oat milk) it's more complicated. Seems accurate to me too - I've argued a good bit with people who claim being referred to as 'cis' is a slur, and pointed out that trans/cis are just descriptors like gay/straight, and do they feel insulted if they are described as a straight person?

But of course that is ENTIRELY DIFFERENT.

it's funny because i definitely DO remember society going through this exact same thing 25 or 30 years ago wrt "straight" as well; it was a slur, because they said they were normal and didn't want any gay-people words applied to them. i guess small victory that the window has moved so that now some of the bigots are unwilling to outright say "because I'm normal" as their reason?

People did that, though. Jefferson didn’t care, of course, but abolitionists existed in the 18th century.

Both things are stupid, the “I would certainly have been one of the people with correct opinions!” fallacy and the “nobody’s opinions were correct back then” fallacy.
personally the latter are the ones who bother me more, because they're the ones erasing history and putting forth an ahistorical concept that "in the past EVERYBODY was a horrible piece of poo poo, therefore being anti-horrible pieces of poo poo is a weird new modern concept that's incredibly stupid and could never work and you're a fool for thinking otherwise. since everyone up until two weeks ago was racist it's justified to still be racist; that's just normal, that's what history has always been like so OF COURSE some people haven't moved on from it yet!"

at least the "i would've been anti-racist in the 1900s" people are, like - there WERE anti-racist people in the 1900s, and this possibly-delusional self-conception does not have harmful results in the real world right now either
